Any golfers out there?

DH and I are planning a trip to Orlando in February and hope to play 3 rounds of golf. Does anyone have suggestions for courses or any tips as to best time of day to play, should we hire clubs or take our own?

We are both reasonable players with h'caps of 13 & 18. We have already played Cypress Harbour.

Thanks, Camac

Kissimme Oaks do a really good deal on club/buggy hire and green fees as does Remington. Both are nice courses.

For a really good experience though try Orange County National, a bit more expensive but a cracking course.

There are loads of good courses in Orlando. Lot depends on how much you want to pay, where you are staying and transportation. If you are willing to book a day or two in advance and have internet access, www.golfnow.com is a great tool for booking times as you get the best deals.

Personally I like playing first thing at 7am, as you get round in 4 hours and then have day free for parks or lazing by pool, however if you play after 2pm, good deals are to be found.

My favourite courses are Orange County National, All the Disney courses butOsprey Ridge stands out, Grand Cypress, Champions Gate International, Falcon's Fire and Celebration. Heard good things about Orange Lake Legends.

I'm a single handicap, but each course has 5 sets of tees so you can choose most appropriate for you. I also tend to take my own clubs and think if you are playing 3 times best to take yours, as it can be up to $50 to hire per set. But depends on baggage allowances etc.

Hope this helps you out.

Thanks for your replies. I will look into all the suggestions.

We will be based in Lake Buena Vista and will have a car.

Jumping into this thread.

DFIL is a keen golfer and as we are staying at OKW next summer I imagine he would like to get in a round, given that he will see a course every day.

Any advice and likely charges please?

I have always liked Falcons Fire. Got to play the new course at The Waldorf as well which i enjoyed. Its tight, but had some lovely holes. It also looks a lot older than it actually is.
For a cheap option try Providence. Decent track & the bar is great for a bear & some lunch.
The other suggestions are decent too.

If you have internet access when you are there use www.golfnow.com. This will get you best deals if you are happy to book 1-2 days in advance. The price can vary so much for golf. You can pay from $30 for some courses in summer to over $100 for the Disney courses, Waldorf etc.
