Hello,

For those who went often in F W ,did you rent a golf cart during your vacation there???

It probably depent where you will be staying.

I have 2 kids ,and will be there in febuary.

thanks

Unless we are there for just a short trip (2 nights) we always rent a golf cart. We look upon it as another ride--it's that fun! Very handy, too, because with it you can run to the store or playground without worrying about catching a bus.

They aren't a must have, but they are sure fun! Your kids would love riding in one, too.

I know there's a real golf cart following, but we prefer bikes. We get the mobility advantage and save the money for other things.

Before Santa brought us one last Christmas, we always rented one but we had 5 kids that were 9 and under. It was just easier for us. Now they are a couple of years older but I love just riding around the loops and checking out other campers. We usually do about 8 weeks at Ft. W during the summer so a cart is a must for us. I guess it depends on how old your kids are. Stroller babies are easier with a cart as are toddlers. Older kids just complain more if they have to wait for the bus, but some just love to ride the bus! If you are going in Feb and rent a cart, you may want to bring some extra blankets for the cart rides.

Hello,

My kids are 5 and 7.
Can we let the golf cart near the buss station and go to the park???

I will have where we will be camping soon.So I will be able to see if I'm far of everything or close.

Maybe for those who are used to go there you maybe know.
We have a roadtrek rv and will need electricity and water.

Which loop you think we're going to be???

thanks for your answers you really help me.
Sorry for my english ,not very good in this....lol but I try

mlroadtrek--your English is way better than my 'any other language' so be proud of yourself!

Yes, you can park the golf cart at the main bus stops--Outpost and Settlement--and at the marina where you catch the boat to the MK. You can also park at the trading posts, the Trail's End, playgrounds and pool areas and campfire area.

If you are getting a partial hook-up site (no sewer) then you will either be in

loop 1500--right at the middle of the campground and a definate bus ride to the marina or park bus stops

or loop 2000--pretty far from any... (well, to be truthful--from anything).

Now, if you reserved a full hook-up or a preferred site then all the above information is useless. That's okay, I'm full of useless information.....

If you can check your reservation to see what kind of site you reserved we can give more precise information.

Have fun planning!

Barbara

thank you Barbara,

I don't know yet what will be my loops.
If I ever get back there sometimes I will be able to chose where I will prefer to be.But when I reserved 1 month ago I didn't know any details of Fw.
The only thing I wanted back then it to have a place to stay there that,s it.....lol

What is the rate for a cart? seems to me, the last time we were there, it was around 37 bucks for a day.......

We were just there a few weeks ago and wouldn't do it without a golf cart, especially with younger children. It made things soo much easier. You also get a 10% discount if you rent it for the week. I would also suggest you reserve one ahead of time, when we got there soo many people were upset because there were none available.

Has the "abuse" of the carts been curtailed any ?

The last 2 times we were at the fort I noticed a number of people driving them recklessly, sliding and skidding and running into each other. We had a newer green cart and you could tell someone before us had beat it up pretty bad.

Anyone notice Disney taking a firmer stand on this ?

We were just there during Christmas week and observed MANY individuals who appeared to be under 16 driving the electric carts. This included "kids" both with their parents and without. I'm not sure what Disney can do about it, but I suppose they could challenge those they see who are clearly not 16. But they certainly can't be everywhere. At the Bike Barn where you rent the carts, they make you sign something which says you will not let anyone under 16 without a valid driver's license drive the carts, so it is obviously the parents/guardians who are flaunting the rules.

btw, it is currently $44 per day to rent the carts.

We were standing talking to some people in site 701, and heard a loud "crack". Some young girl had run a cart in one of those marker posts entering the 700 loop. The cart had about 5 or six people in it, several adults. The wheel of the cart was twisted kinda funny, so we walked over the helped straighted out the steering.

The driver was about 12 I would guess.

We stopped a maintainace cart and gave them the cart number and told them there was damage to the steering and it might not be a safe vehicle.

We have seen very little enforcment of the rules and countless violations. I wonder how many people get hurt every year ... you would think this would be significant incentive.

I think its a policy issue, not a lack of manpower. Can't hurt anyones feelings.

Its a real pain, especially on weekends, but I don't see things changing.

I guess we are getting a little off topic here ... we bought our own Villager 4 last summer ... that's how much we love having a cart at FW.

I really hate to be the "Disney golf cart police" but I am really getting tired of having to dodge people in carts that clearly have no business driving them, your story is a good example of what I am talking about.
The last one we rented was beat up pretty bad for a unit as new as it was, thats raises the cost of business and as such Disney raises their price to make up for it. My folks always taught me to return things better than when you got them, my guess is that not everyone got that speech :confused3
