Golf Cart Questions

Sorry if these are obvious, but had a few questions about the golf cart rentals:

Do the carts have headlights? If not, is there enough street lighting at night to drive around?

We are renting a cart for 8 days. Should we assume that the cart won't need to be charged during that time? Or are they gas?

This may be a silly question, but do you take out the key every time you park it? Or do you just leave the key in the cart and hope nobody takes your cart?

Is there adequate cart parking at all of the key places (pools, depot, restaurants, etc)?

Thanks,
Ogie

Is there adequate cart parking at all of the key places (pools, depot, restaurants, etc)? We were there the week before Thanksgiving, 2015. We always found a place to park.

Hi Ogie,

First off Welcome to the camping forum.

The answer to your first question is "yes", they have lights as it is required to have lights on them. They are usually reported as fully charged and I highly advise plugging them up nightly as you never really know how much you may use it the next day.

I, as a habit, always remove the key. Doesn't really matter much, since all the carts pretty much use the exact same key, but it's habit for me.

Yes, there is plenty of parking for the carts at all the major locations, although the spaces near the outdoor movie can be a little cramped at times so in that case arrive a little early.

Also, on the main camping page under the heading "Fort Wilderness Resort Information" Denise has provided a link to the golf cart rules and listed a lot of them out for you to review prior to arrival.

Enjoy yourself and let us know if there is anything else we can help with.

Welcome Big Ogie! I'd also bring some thing to tie to your cart so you can find it easily. They all look alike except for different numbers on them.

We are debating whether we will need one or not, and if one would be useful anyways, since my understanding is that we can't guarantee we'll get one of the few big enough for our party of six. Do they "sell out," meaning none might be available for our mid-December trip if we don't reserve one now?
Thanks s much, PPs, for the info about lights et al.

From my understanding of the golf cart rental, you can not reserve a 6 person cart. It is first come, first serve. Not sure how many of them Disney has. You can reserve the 4 seaters I believe, a year in advance.

Hi everyone,

I will be taking my great-nephew for his first ever trip to Disney World next April. Really excited! We will be staying in a wilderness cabin. We would like to rent a cart, but I can't find any information about how to reserve golf carts. I may have missed it, but if someone could point me in the right direction, I'd be really grateful!

Thank you!! :)

Here ya go, it's a link to a post that Denise put together here on the camping forum.

The second post is a picture of the rental options at the Fort. At the bottom of the picture is the phone number you need to call. If you run into any problems you can call the Fort directly at 407-824-2900.

Also, on that same link and a few posts down she listed the golf cart rules as well.

Oh yeah, :welcome: to the camping forum.

Thank you so much!! Super helpful and much appreciated! :) I've spent many happy hours over at the Fort but have never stayed there - really looking forward to nature's magic (and the "other" magic too! :D) pixiedust:
