golf cart hauling question!

Hello to all!

We are heading to the Fort on Nov 10 for 8 nights.

We have a golf cart but have never brought it camping. We would like to this time. We have a Dodge Diesel short bed. We have had the golf cart in the bed of the truck before but you need the tailgate down. We have thought about and it will prevent turning because it will hit the jack. We have thought about removing the jack. It is bolted on by 3 bolts so not toooooo much work! Does anyone have any suggestions or comments or experiences?

I have not called to book a golf cart but I am thinking it might be getting to late plus it is so expensive! Of course we could just bring the bikes.

Do you need the tailgate for the back wheels of the cart? If the wheels will fit in the bed, you could remove the tailgate completely and use heavy duty straps to secure the cart.

We always bring our golf cart. We have a motorhome so we just put it on the trailer and tow it. I don't think I could take the cost of renting one for a week.

Can you turn with the tailgate down and not hit your trailer? If that is okay, I use to remove the jack on one of my trailers for extra clearance. Every once in awhile I would drag the post on the ground going into a driveway. Another option is to replace the current jack with a fold up one from Camping World. They bolt onto the side of the trailer tongue. Most are rated for 3000 pounds so I would think that would work for most trailers.

Personally, I like having my own golf cart rather then renting one of FW's.
