Anyone use goldstar for discount tickets?

I've used goldstar twice for medieval times. I called medieval times to try to use a kids free coupon, and even with the coupon medieval times direct pricing was $6 more than goldstar. I just wonder how goldstar is able to offer better prices than the company's own discounts?

I've used gold star for regional theater and I think the venue (theater or whatnot) gets the tickets from the venue at a huge discount. Maybe even close to free. I think the venue just want people in the seats.

Usually it's fairly last minute so the venue doesn't think they can sell the seats so they use another broker. I think this is how the tkts booth gets their tickets. Whenever I see th gold star dates they are usually for a specific night and usually within 3 days.
