I have tried lots of different waffle mixes and recipes, including recipes where you need to whip the egg whites first and fold them in, or let the batter rise over night. None of them came close to the ones we made with Golden Malted Waffle and Pancake Mix, and now it is the only waffle mix that we use. I like that it is easy to stir up a batch and the waffles taste great. It is hard to find in our area, but Cost Plus World Market carries it for a reasonable price.

Bought it on Amazon! Full brand name is Carbon's Golden Malted Pancake and Waffle Mix. It's pricey, but worth it as a special treat.

It is super inexpensive at Cost Plus World Market if you have one in your area. I think I only spent about $5 on a canister.
