Not sure if this has been posted before but Golden Corral are no longer accepting travellers cheques. No reason just a notice posted on the door. It was the same for the I-Drive, Vineland and 192 branches.

The reason they are not taking them any more is because of the huge increase in counterfeit travelers cheques being used in Florida ,most places are know asking for photo id when using travelers cheques .

I wouldn't agree that most places are asking for ID, it's on the increase but still in the minority as of July and Sep this year unless things have changed recently.

Walgreens and DTD were the only places requesting ID for us.
Where else is now asking for ID out of interest, I don't stay onsite.

It is no wonder they are being ripped off with travellers cheques. When we first used then (way back) you had to have proof of identity. This time when we went we were NEVER asked for any ID anywhere we used them. If they don't ask, expect to be conned.

We had the same problem when we were there this year so we walked out.
Most UK people take Travellers cheques and not so much money.

We discussed this with servers in several other restaurants and they said if they won't accept Travellers cheques then we shouldn't use them.

We just used lots of travellers cheques in Sept, some days we changed a couple of hundred $. We were only asked for Id a few times. McDonalds on I-drive asked every time, and a couple of resturants in WDW. Never had a problem anywhere else. A few smaller places though do advertise that they wont cash any TQ's over $50, this is to do with the issue of change they lose. I like to use TQ's as then I know where I am with my money. I am useless with my cards and dont keep a proper tally, so am never sure what I have spent. I split my TQ's up between the days and what I dont spend carries over to the next day. If lots of places begin not to accept them, not sure what I will do. But as someone else posted, if they are not checking id's then it there fault if they are falling for the fake cheques.

Anyway no great loss that GC dont accept them. One meal there was enough for me. Much prefer ponderosa.
