Has anyone been in here? the menu looks as if it would be ok for a scruffy, can't be bothered night but is it decent food?
How does it compare to Sizzlers?

We think It is much better than sizzlers. Our Fav. all you can eat. :thumbsup2

The breakfasts are really good with lots of choices.

We agree also. Whenever we've visited, the food has been of excellent quality. Definitely best all you can eat! Looking forward to going back

Golden Corral in our experience has always been fine, good quality buffet breakfast.
Never rated Sizzler personally.

We think it is much better then sizzler , the food is fresher and they provide a larger variety of food which is great when you have a fussy DS every time we went he found something he liked . If you like deserts my DH recommends the banana cream pie :woohoo:

Yes we also like Golden Corral. Food is good value and quality with a variety to choose from. Never been to Sizzler. What's that like in comparison?

Another vote for Golden Corral - it's our favourite over all the buffet style restaurants

Only ever been for breakfast and I can thoroughly agree it's the best by far.:thumbsup2
Tried Sizzlers, Perkins, Ponderosa, Black Angus and a few others I can't think of at mo :confused3 but Golden Corrall for brekky :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Its miles better than Sizzler.

And they do a different special each evening. My favourite is Steak Night, where you can get all you can eat Steak and the pieces they give are cooked to order and by no way small portions:cool1:

We've never been to Golden Corral but it sounds good........ we're staying at the Hampton Inn on Universal Boulevard..... is there a Golden Corral near us? I can't remember !!

You seem to have a taste for good food Tony.... what's your opinion?

We went to Golden Corral a few times and always enjoyed it. The steak is great, as is the cherry pie!
Also went to Ponderossa which we thought was very good too, especially for the price you're paying!

Do a search for the Golden Corall, you'll find nothing but positive vibes...

I think it's the best of the buffett type places by a long way. The food is better quality and there is more choice.

Like another poster said, the steak buffet is great, as much as you can eat and big portions.

The dessert menu is huge also.

One other good thing, is that it isn't as known to tourists as Ponderosa, Sizzler etc. It ends to be more popular with locals.

I think there is a GC near Universal Boulevard, about one block down on Sand Lake Road if memory serves....

The thing to note is that the place is jam packed with the locals every evening. It can be very difficult to get a seat most evenings and almost impossible on a saturday night. That speaks volumes!
It is by a county mile the best buffet restaurant chain. If you think the frankly poor pondarosa is OK, wait till you try the corral. Its pure barry. It is slightly more expensive though.

:thumbsup2 The one next to the Marriott Village at Little Lake Brian was extremely popular with everyone when we stopped at that hotel a few years back, they also had live entertainment on a saturday night maybe they still do. Casual dress was fine and although we never went in (DS was very young) the food smelled amazingly good, very friendly staff too:thumbsup2

we prefer golden corral of all the buffet restaurants. one thing we do like is the pricing policy. at sizzler, ponderosa etc you have to order some food, eg a steak, then you get the buffet with the meal. i always find that ive filled up on buffet before the meal ive ordered arrives then i end up wasting it. at golden corral you just pay for a buffet, steaks chicken etc are cooked to order at the buffet bar. golden corral also has a much much wider choice of desserts.

If you want quick, fresh food with a good choice and at a great price - IMHO Golden Coral cannot be beaten - we normally eat there 5-6 times in a 2 week period.

As mentioned earlier, the locals eat there too - last trip we even saw a wedding party of some thirty guests who arrived by coach with all the ladies wearing hats and full wedding attire .......... a real funny sight.

They also have a great healthy salad bar and a selection of food even our fussy 5 year old enjoys. Steak night is an absolute bargin and their Bourban Chicken is to die for.
