I have heard this from a few ppl but you know vmk rumors...so I checked Mal's item list, and they are still all listed as "Q" (no X). So, does anyone know: are the gold set (rope, scoreboard, press, generator, turnstile, etc) and the gold mickey ears gone? meaning, if you complete the HM quest and try to get the gold set at the parks, or buy a hat at the right store and ask for the ears card...are they no longer being given out? I know the cards may have expired on 9/30 along w/ everything else, but I'm not sure (I have yet to dig thru my vmk cards, over 300 of them, and find the 2 cards of these that I have! ). IF they are expired...does anyone know if Disney is making or has made new cards with codes for these things? I mean, you can still do the HM quest in vmk and get the paper. So I need to know, b/c I have lately, since I heard this, been seeing a lot of people either offering or looking for this stuff in trade rooms. I want to know if the value of my gold stuff has gone up. God, I hope the ears are not gone....I have been trading/gifting my gold ears away like nothing! I am down to 3 pairs from having about 15.

On another note: I made a trade and want to know if it's fair. I know a trade is fair if YOU think it is, but I want opinions on who got the better deal here, if anyone. If both are the same, great. If you think person A or person B (I'm not saying which was me) got it better, please tell me and say why you think so.

Person A traded: a red crate and a fire wall. (they only had one red crate, but about 10 or more fire walls. Also, they originally GOT the crate from person B! They traded 2 pirate couches, 2 pirate stools and posts, one fire wall, and one Toucan and one Jolly Roger pin for the crate. Then they offered to trade the red crate back to person B, forgetting that they had gotten it from person B! Person B reminded them, there was laughing, but person B wanted the crate back. So, they traded. And person B gave:

Person B traded: Haunted clock, red generator, gold generator, and orange bat bag (what is the rarity status of that? Was it a staff prize, and is it still given out? Person B got it in a trade).

This person had two clocks, now one. They also had 3 of each generator, now 2 each. And 3 bat bags, now 2.

(I know what the other person had b/c of asking, so I'm going on what they said. Also going on what I saw in their room, so they have at LEAST what I listed, possibly more if they were lying!)

So...who, IF anyone, got the better deal? In summary:

A: gave red crate (beta) and fire wall
B: gave HM clock, orange bat bag, red generator, gold generator

Also person A ORIGINALLY got the red crate from person B for: 2 pirate couches, one fire wall, two stool/posts, a toucan pin, and Jolly Roger pin (pirates attraction 1/5, the rarest). Don't know, or don't remember ( :teeth: ) what person B traded for the red crate the first time
.

Thanks everyone in advance for answering my many questions, and if you don't reply: :thanks: for reading!

OH please don't say it's too late. I can always trade back with this person :)

P.S. What is the purple rocket worth? I want to trade for one, but I don't know what a good offer is.

God, the ears are probably gone since it's the start of "A year of a million dreams". I don't know, all you can do is hope.

I can only tell you that my mom was at the parks last week and redeemed four gold collections for me.

However, with the disappearance of Discovery Island, I think it will be difficult for furture Hidden Mickey Quests to be had, since a room is mising. Has anyone found out where that mickey ended up?

Without that room, it is impossible to complete the hidden mickey quest for the gold collection. Might be a good question for Yavn and staff.

I was told by cast members at Disneyland that the cards for the gold ears would be gone after September. Have not tried to get any since then but others have reported they are no longer available.

Never occurred to me that the gold show designer set might retire as well. I haven't been able to check that for a very long time, since VMK will not recognize all of my found Mickeys and give me the print-out. If VMK Central runs out of cards, they might give out something else in place of this for the Hidden Mickey reward. (This is what happened for a brief time last December when they stopped giving out the VIP tour cards.)

I am actually hoping that a Hidden Mickey quest III comes out soon so I can start the quest fresh. VMK gave plenty of warning before changing the quest last time, so I assume they will again, and maybe they will have a new prize at that time.

Even if the gold set cards are currently available, not all players are able to get them, since one of the Mickeys is in the Inner Space shop. This alone makes the pieces rarer than before, in my opinion.

We were at WDW Sunday and we were told they still had all the cards and were giving them out. We were also told not to worry about the expiration date. As long as they are still giving out the cards, they are not expired. I do know you can't get the HM cards any more because the quest/tour isn't availble anymore. We were told that there will be more quests for WDW very soon. Not sure what the deal is at DL.

I was able to get gold ears cards in WDW last week so they are still being given out.

The VIP Tour cards were only given out for completing the Hidden Mickey quest until last December. All this year the gold set has been the prize at Disneyland, and to the best of my knowledge, at WDW as well.

I rode Buzz Lightyear atraction on Saturday and ds and littlebelle asked about the wanted posters. The CM looked behind each of the terminals and the cash register and couldn't not find any cards. Needless to say, we didn't buy the picture, lol.

Person B definitely got the better deal if you ask me. Red crate may be one of the least rare beta, but it is still worth a LOT. On another note, purple rocket isn't actually beta, but is extremely rare.

Thanks for giving me something to post on!

I personally have never understood the popularity of the red crate... :confused3 I know it's rare..but it's so small and plain and well...I just don't even care for them. But that's totally my opinion..I'd trade one for pirate stuff any day.

I agree...its just a red box. But then again...inferno is just a circle of fire and by far not the best magic. Even some free magic is better/cooler than inferno!

Thanks for everyone's answers :) Helped a lot! I would like to have more opinions on the trade though now that I know about the gold stuff...keep them coming! LOL so far A gets one vote and B gets one vote (I guess...Peasy?)

Oh where did Discovery Island go? I didn't know it was gone. Where did it used to be? I can't find a spot where it was...and what is the Tron room? Someone answered with "the tron room, obviously"...

I'm assuming they meant the tron guest room. On the wall slightly to the right of center is a "hidden" mickey.

Just a note on the gold ears at DLR. I went to Disneyland on September 6,7, 2006 and asked at every hat shop i could find about the Gold Mickey Ears cards. The people i asked acted like they knew nothing about it. I went to literally every hat shop in Disneyland and nobody knew anything about the gold ears VMK cards. They would always say, "Oh you get those at ____ shop over in ____ land." I would go there and they would direct me somewhere else or look at me like i had spoken a different language. Some people at these shops hadn't even heard of VMK. So i would say that if the cards still exist, they are very hard to find at DLR because i asked everywhere!

Now, it is gone for good but it was near the Pirate Treehouse, on the top right of that map

I think at DLR the hat was/is at "Le Chapeau". I don't know where that is...my first and only DLR trip was when I was about 7 y/o. I know at WDW it's the hat shop next to the candy store.

Oh, and HM in the tron GUEST room? Does it "count" as a HM when you take a pic? I'll have to look for it. Is it "invisible"? I know (at least I think..my Tron room walls are covered in posters/by furniture) that 3 circles on the wall made a mickey, but are you talking about a real HM like in the rest of the public areas???

No, the "hidden" mickey in the tron room is the three circles on the wall. It's technically "hidden", but not really part of the official 50.

I was quite confused by what you meant Mia, about the trade advice so I can't really put in my opinion there.

As for the gold collection, I had heard that it would be retiring because it does say 50th Gold Collection when you click on it.

Oh by the way I really hope they give out prizes for the hidden mickey quest that you don't have to go to one of the parks to redeem (like that will ever happen!). I can't go obviously so the hidden mickey quest seemed like quite a waste of time to me.

A bit off topic...the Hidden Mickey that was once in the Discovery Island on the ship's sail is now found where all "dead" ships rest....;) hint, hint.
Good luck on the HM Quest!
