Gold Pass Expiration Date Change

What is the probability of getting Disney to change the date on my Gold Pass. My current pass is set to expire on March 18th. We usually travel in the fall and try to get 2 trips out of 1 AP. Due to Covid the expiration date got pushed to March from October. With the uncertainty of new APs being sold I'd like to keep my AP and renew. Renewing will keep the expiration date of March 18th. Any chance I can get them change it back to the original expiration date prior to Covid?

Not likely; now if you had canceled (not accepted the extension), you could have gotten new APs

AP sales were stopped. I couldnt have purchased a new one.

I was able to purchase a new AP during the black out, but you had to meet very specific criteria. My situation was I had an AP and a trip planned during a time that the entire resort was closed. When Disney offered the cancellation of APs with prorated reimbursement, I took it. Then later I made a reservation for December of 2020 and was granted an exception and was able to purchase a new Gold AP. There is a lengthy thread about it - I tried to post the link but it keeps clocking out.

As already mentioned, if you took the extension, then you are allowed to renew. if you had canceled, and took a refund, they are letting those people get a recovery AP.

What I would do is call the AP line and tell them you want to speak to someone handling the recovery offers. Plead your case that you would rather have a new one and not a renewal, Since you had an AP during closure, I think you should be allowed to change, assuming you have not used it at all during the extension.

??? Should they make the same exception for the other 25,000 folks in the same boat?

This whole thing is ridiculous.

Actually, I think they should allow those that chose the extension but didn’t use it a chance to be in the same boat as those who canceled, took a refund, and are now eligible.

Some people took the extension thinking they would go and then didn’t. Now, someone like me who actually went during the extension should not.

But, since they did indeed hold an AP during closure, I think one should ask because had they canceled outright, there would be no issue in getting a new AP with the recovery offer.

But they did not cancel outright. If I could make prior financial decisions using hindsight, I would would be a rich man.

I was in the same position. Ours expires at the end of the month. I have until end of April to renew. I had purchased 7 day hoppers so I could secure park reservations for our November trip back in December. I would have used the money towards a new AP had they started selling them by April.

I would have preferred a new AP since our November vacation is about 6 months after our last one. I would secure 3 trips then. But no Dice. I called again recently. I got tired of waiting and wondering so I went ahead and applied the money from the 7 day hoppers to renewing my AP. I will now get two trips out of it (instead of 3 with a new one). I ended up getting a refund of $79. I would be very annoyed if they start selling new ones before end of April 2021 - but it is what it is.

Yes, I do understand that. But I’m just saying that I think they should try. They are not asking for the refund vs the extension. I don’t think that should be allowed.

But, when the decision was announced to choose extension or refund, there was no recovery offer in play that said if you canceled you could get another one. That may have played a role in the decisions people made.

Just think it doesn’t hurt to plead the case as to why they should be allowed a new vs renewal. Now, if those that canceled were not being sold new ones, then I’d agree with you.
