Gold or Silver Annual Pass - Florida residents?

Besides photo pass and fewer block out dates (the summer months are included) are there any benefits to buying gold vs silver annual passes? We are Florida residents and have had annual passes for a long time. Last year we got weekday passes which we didn’t really care for.
It seems like when we had gold passes we received a couple of invitations to special events.

No, those 2 benefits are essentially the only real differences.

I had a gold pass last time I had an AP but downgraded to silver this time.
I found that I didn’t plan any trips during the summer dates (too hot and rainy). And we did so many photos that the whole family started running away when I would point out a photo pass photographer. So I decided the extra cost wasn’t worth it.

Supposedly gold pass holders do get invitations to special events, but I never received any during that 1 year.

I also say the silver pass is fine, that's what we have

We actually moved down to the new Theme Park Select. It worked better for us since we’re local. The blackout dates are a bit weird since they are different for each park but we can at least get into A park for most of the year. I liked being able to go to Epcot in the evenings during the summer and we were planning on staying away from SWGE for a while anyway.

Going from Gold to Silver brings in the summer blackout.

Over the last 4 years of being Disney snowbirds we shifted down from platinum to gold as we discovered we didn't enjoy going to the parks over the holidays. Next year we might shift down to silver as this year we didn't visit the parks during our summer Florida vacation. It was just too hot for us. And the recent price increase certainly factors into the decision.

I have never understood the algorithm Disney uses to send AP offers.

Thank you everyone for the input. i appreciate your taking the time to reply.

We have silver and I get a little homesick by mid-July... then I step outside my air conditioned house and realize I can't hang at Disney in mid-July ;) We visited the weekend blackouts lifted and spent a total of 3 hours in the park over 3 days because we're wimps

We have talked of upgrading one of ours to gold next year (we just renewed) only for photopass. We are expecting a baby in October and I think it might be worth the investment to capture all the photos of him interacting with characters. But right now, I just hand my phone to the Photopass photographer and they gladly take pics for us.

What did you not like about the Weekday Pass? We've had Platinum, Gold, Preferred (way back when), tickets from Publix in the past. We have no plans to go during the summer, Easter or Christmas. And we usually go Mon through Fri (or a variation of that). We're DVC members and are about 3.5 hours away. So we would only book a DVC stay. So those special events don't really interest us much.

It’s hit and miss when it comes to even getting into the last one was the GE previews which were platinum and up

FWIW the only reason I do gold over silver is because I do RunDisney and it’s a better deal for the higher tier then springing for memory maker 1-2 weekends a year

Deb & Bill - We like the flexibility of going any day of the week especially during the Flower and Garden Festival and Food and Wine Festival. We live about an hour away and missed going over on Sunday for the day.
We only had the weekday pass last year - it just wasn’t a good fit for us.

That makes sense.

We had the silver APs several times. Then decided no more passes.
Then went to the fla res tix deals , that I picked up at Publix last time.
I’m not sure what I’ll do next. I’m thinking the weekday pass, and on the weekend part of our visit, doing DS, no parks.

We bought a regular Florida ticket, went on the weekend, then upgraded it to a weekday select.

With this you get a weekend for your first trip, then weekdays after, and its by far the most affordable pass.

With the charge per day and per park being different, I bet we don't see those three day, four day tickets from Publix any more.
