Gold Mobility's Go-Go scooter experience.

On this trip, I decided to try the smaller Go-Go scooter for the "transportability" (is that a word?) So far, so good. DH does the breaking down and putting back together, and he says that it's quite easy. He's 71, and says it's a little heavy for him to lift, but not bad at all. We have a mid-size SUV.
As far as the battery life, I only charge it overnight, and it lasts for me all day (although I only do parks for about 7-8 hours.

Thats great news. I tried a portable scooter once, and we only able to get 5 hours out of it. I haven't tried one with the current company we use now. They offer them I just never rented one yet. What company did you get it from if I may ask?

Gold Mobility is the company we have been using. Never a single problem in 4 rentals now. Next trip I'm going to try one of their GOGO's.

It's not really the scooter itself that'll be an issue, it's the battery. I've had a personally owned GoGo Traveler Elite for over a decade. The first few years one charge lasted a full day in the park and was still on green when I got back to the room. As years went by it lasted fewer and fewer hours until finally I'd be getting stuck in the park. Bought a new battery for it, and it went back to a charge lasting 15+ hours of constant use. It depends entirely on how old the battery is and how long it's been in constant use being rented regularly. I don't know how often the rental places replace the battery so it's worth asking. They may quote you the length of time it SHOULD last with a new battery and then give you one that is years old.

Edited for Accuracy: While they did used to replace every 6 months, as stated on their website etc. in the past, it is now closer to every 9 months or so according to their website. I was unaware when making the original post, so have edited for accuracy.

We would charge overnight and the first light would flicker off within a few minutes every day. Turn it off and back on and all lights would be lit. We called Gold several times on it, but they kept telling us it should be fine and would not swap and that the gogo should only be used about 4-5 hours. So this time we are renting the Pride Victory. We did show the driver when they picked it up what the battery would do and they agreed something seemed off with the battery and were going to check it closely. And did confirm the scooter was new (it was red and not blue and had 0 scratches on it).

I am happy with Gold's product and service. I'm sure other companies offer good service, sometimes at a lower price. Gold replaces scooters every 9 months. Thats 50% less often then the 6 months claimed by some posters.

My experience with the GoGo at PBH, as soon as I started to dissassemble the scooter a bell hop came over to help. He called over someone else to show him how its done.
When we entered the Swan driveway the driver told the bellhop we had a scooter. It was assembled as the pieces were taken out of the vehicle.

I watched the video and was prepared to dissassemble and reassemble the scooter.

I have a GoGo Elite Traveller as well - I only use it for Disney (usually 4-6 weeks a year) - battery lasts me all day but I do buy new batteries yearly.

Next time, ask for another person, really should have been replaced, but do keep in mind that they are having a hard time getting the extended batteries for the GoGo sport at the moment (hopefully that changes soon, but who knows) and the regular batteries really aren't good for more than 4 or 5 hours, so you may have been hitting that issue.

We have rented the victory 10's from Gold Mobility Scooters on 5 different occasions. We never had a problem using the scooter from rope drop to the fireworks show. Every night we returned with atleast one green light left. Back in the day when we used a different vendor we only got 4-5 hours of use out of the GOGO. Thats why we stick with the Victory scooters.

9 months is not slightly more the 6 months. It's 50% more.

Almost all of us prefer facts, directly from the company's website, vs claims from an anonymous poster
regarding a possible conversation DH may have had with an unknown employee.

Golds customers are happy. No reason why a few posters see the need to embellish and exaggerate.

Yes, you are correct, I did say 6 months and I was corrected, as that information was outdated is all, their website did used to say every 6 months, as did their Facebook in the past, as that was what it was at one point in time.

I am sure there are other places as well, as this is a relatively recent change, this has nothing to do with exaggerations and I was simply unaware of the change when I said that before, so my apologies, the 6 month portion was based solely off the publicly available information that I had seen with my own two eyes. The fact that it is now on a rolling basis is simply what we have been told by those that work at the company in positions that would know.

But, the point that the batteries should always be less than a year old remains accurate either way.

My Traveler Elite lasts the entire day when I need it to, and I do stuff like drive around the World Showcase loop just because I have nothing better to do. I'm smaller than most people (100 lbs give or take) but an extra hundred pounds shouldn't be enough to drop a full charge from 12 hours to 4-5.

Also, keep in mind that weather conditions can have an effect on battery life. Cold days in February will suck the life out of a scooter battery. I'll only rent from Gold from now on.

When I asked about 4-5 hours on a GOGO scooter Gold Mobility clarified what 4-5 hours meant, they told me run time hours not time out in the park. We still rent the Victory 10 just because we like the security of 8-10 runtime hours. We leave the resort at 6AM for breakfast most mornings, and we are in the parks for rope drop. We normally stay until 9-10pm and sometimes later if there is a special event. We always have one or two green bars left when we return to the hotel even after 15 hours out with one of Gold Mobility's Scooters. They are the only company we have used where I always feel comfortable leaving the charger behind in the room.

I don't know why you offered all the links. I believe Precovid Gold replaced on a 6 month basis. Almost all people are interested in current policy and not historical info.

I did quote yours, which my brain automatically flipped the 9 to 6 as I tend to autocorrect what I see as typos in my head. As I said, I was mistaken and it has been clarified to me. I admitted to my mistake, and yes, like all companies Gold has had to do some cutbacks and price increases due to supply chain and increased cost issues, as you said, we are still happy with them.

But again, I was mistaken on the 6 months, which was based on outdated information and have clarified that, please move on and let this go back to the original topic.

It depends on if they have extended range batteries or not. If they are standard range on the GoGo sport, 4 to 5 hours is correct and I know from personal experience in trying to get them for my mom's scooter, that it continues to be hard to get the extended range batteries and/or extended range battery box. Not presently impossible (although it was for a while), but very difficult, at least to get high quality ones. Although, I do see the poster clarified the 4 to 5 hours is different than what you are thinking.

Also, speed makes a huge difference in addition to weight and it is possible to not only be the 100 lbs difference, but a lot of people also pack backpacks, stuff the basket, some let kids ride with them (although you shouldn't, it isn't safe), all of which can affect battery life. Also, if you use the USB port on it to charge your phone, that will obviously use additional power, etc.

But in general with extended range batteries the sport should last all day, depending on what you do, you might be pushing it though. The Victory 10.2 will last longer due to larger batteries.
