Gold AP blackout dates 2021

Hey guys, hypothetically, if I purchased a gold AP tomorrow, and then activated it on 01 April 2021 on the first day of my next visit, I assume I can use that ticket to enter the park until 01 April 2022, and reserve park days, fast passes etc (assuming I have a DVC stay at the same time) before it is actually activated?

Also, am I right in thinking that the blackout days generally don't change, so for example, if I wanted to visit 01 - 15 December 2021, a gold pass would be good?

I currently have park day reservations linked to MDE using the 14 day ticket, I am also assuming that if the above is correct, if I purchase the gold AP, prior to cancelling the and refunding the 14 day ticket my park pass reservations will remain.

When would you expect the rest of the year to be announced? When does it normally happen?

It appears to be a rolling 12 month calendar. The blockout dates for the Gold Pass since it's inception have been the week before & after Easter and mid December until after New Years Day.

Just to add that you cannot currently any APs. They have shut down sales temporarily. We suspect they should go back on sale when 2020 tickets do, hopefully soon..
rumored date is July 11th.

April 1st falls right in the middle of blackout dates, so you would not be able to activate a Gold Pass from April 1st to April 9th. A Gold AP doesn't seem like it would work at all for that particular trip.

Follow up question. I was under the impression that you could upgrade from a Gold Pass to a Platinum. Can that be done mid-year to use during the blackout? Or is it only eligible during renewal?

I realise now that it was stupid of me to use that as an example date! The trip is actually right at the end of April, it’s well after Easter, I just said the first for ease!

Yes, you can pay the difference and upgrade at anytime during the year.

Yes, you can upgrade, but you'll pay the full upgrade price. They do not prorate it.

There is no telling what Disney will do in regards to 10/2021. I don't put anything past them, lol. But you won't catch me there during then.

WDW 50th anniversary. Highly unlikely the gold AP will be changed to block out that time period. It is designed to have only two block-out times -- two weeks around Easter and 15 days around Christmas. The gold is actually a Florida Pass DVC members can also buy. There is another cheaper Florida pass (silver AP) that blocks out those holiday times plus more dates, typically in the summer.

I have never really traveled to Disney during much of any high crowd times in the past and it would have to be like free for me to try to touch October 2021.
