This is our 3rd trip in 3 years. We did memory maker on the other two. It was fun to have, especially our first time. I enjoyed looking at the pictures but we are terrible about printing pictures so I honestly with the exception of a couple, I havent done anything with most of them.

This trip is our longest and most expensive. I have to make some cuts somewhere!. We are going at a hotter, busier time of year. We have 3 boys (11. 9, 7) who would rather not wait in line for a photo-op.

All this to say, I've pretty much decided to go without MM this time. My one concern is getting a family picture on main street and pictures at character meets. Does anyone have experience at these locations with asking a CM to take a pic with your phone/camera?

The Photopass Photographer or the Character Attendant will use your phone/camera to snap photos for you.

Just let them know before you get to the character or posing spot.

Awesome. Have you had experience doing that? I didnt know if CM's seemed put out, or if the pictures were awful lol.

It’s one of their “duties” as long as you don’t mind handing over an $800+ phone. 😊

We do it all the time at WDW and DL... we get the Photopass photos and photos taken by a CM using our phone.

We have never paid for any Disney "picture" taking service. The CM's or any random person always takes our pics and with our iPhones........the pics are as good as any Disney will take.

Don't hesitate to ask any one in the park to take your picture. My daughter (30+), if she sees a person taking family pictures,(minus the photographer), if they'd like her to take a group picture. Most are very appreciative. Some say "no" put it sure is a nice gesture.

I do this, and it led to a really funny moment when the people I assumed were the grandparents taking the picture of the kids/parents actually turned out to be strangers already taking the family's picture, so then they all got in together, and we were joking that if someone came and offered while I was taking it that I'd join them, on and on.

We do MM a lot. And one thing that I noticed, is that we always have the same pose...kids in front, parents in back. Every picture. So, if we were to do it again, I would try to switch it up.

a couple of times if a photopass CM he would use both his camera and ours. we just didn't get the ones with his camera

Yep, totally fine. I'd have them take one with theirs too, just in case. We didn't get Memory Maker our last trip but did end up buying a few of the photos- we got some special after the fact that made them less expensive. If you're already standing there, no harm in having them take it with both cameras!

You can still get the photopass card or scan your band and view the pictures on the app with the imprint. If you really like one, you can buy it individually, I believe $15.

That's what we did.

And in the end we bought a few pictures. They upload to the Disney app and a few were just great.

But no one seemed to mind using our phones snapping pics for us.

We do this when we don’t have AP’s (like on our next trip.) It’s so easy! All you give up is the magic shots (obviously.)

My only advice would be to already have the camera set up how you want it, including any zoom. They won’t (I think I’ve only had one exception) touch any of that on your camera.
