I hope this is the right place to post this...sorry if it is not! I am planning my trip with my mom for her 50th. She has not been to Disney since 1998. I was young and a spoiled little girl who did not like much rides. However, my mom has high blood pressure and cannot go on all the rides I enjoy at Disney now. This trip is more about showing her the magic I love, enjoying the food and a few drinks! It is still Disney and there are rides! So my question is do you think HS is worth going two days for? I was planning one night going and one morning go. Do we need all that time there or is a morning good enough (say about park opening to 3-4)?

Is her blood pressure controlled properly by meds/exercise? Has she consulted with her doctor to find out if she could actually go on rides? The reason I ask is that my my family member has high blood pressure that is controlled by medication and exercise (she measures it daily). We had started to plan how to deal with it on our trip, but then she asked her doctor if she could go on the WDW rides based on her HBP history. He said since it was under control, that she could. Of course your mom should consult with her doctor before going ahead with it, and understand the risks involved, but just wanted to let you know my experience.

I'm not the best person to answer your other question (we spend very little time/ride very few rides in HS). But I'm sure someone else can chime in :)

50 is not old:). Unless she has uncontrolled blood pressure, it really should not be an issue. I'm 49, have very well controlled high blood pressure, do every ride and can out last everyone in my family in the parks. If she has Un-controlled blood pressure, she needs to work with her doctor to get it under control before the trip. She will feel much better. MANY rides are going to say to avoid if you have high blood pressure. I would have very high blood pressure without meds, but with them I do not, and do everything!

I also have very high blood pressure that is well controlled with meds, my doctor said that I could ride anything I wanted to!

I'm 54 y/o and also have high blood pressure. My doctor knows I go to WDW several times a year and has said I can ride anything I want. Obviously my blood pressure is under control (thanks to my medication).

I also take my 79 y/o mom down there a few times a year. She has high blood pressure, diabetes, and arthritis. Up until the arthritis in her knees got so bad a couple of years ago, she rode most rides (wouldn't ride ToT, Expedition Everest, or Space Mountain), but loved the others. She still rides Soarin, Big Thunder Mountain, Toy Story Mania, etc. (just can't get in and out of rides that she has to step down into and up out of, due to her bad knees). Her doctor has told her she can ride anything she feels like, since her blood pressure is so well controlled at this time.

I like DHS. There are lots of things to do there in addition to the rides. Make sure to check out the Animation Academy where you are taught how to draw a character. The character that you draw depends on the animator so you can do this more than once. There's also One Man's Dream which has a display of objects from Walt's life and a biographical movie. DH and I really like this, but it's also a nice break from the heat or rain.

I would say maybe do one day where you return to the resort for a break in the afternoon. Then you can return to Studios at night for Fantasmic. Just make sure to check schedule for Fantasmic because it doesn't necessarily run every night.

We can finish HS in 1/2 of a day! I have a severe back injury, which makes me work very slow. I'd rather spend any extra day(s) in EPCOT,Animal Kingdom or Magic Kingdom, where there is so much more to see.
