Anyone ever had the chance to share that magical feeling of acompanying family or friends on their first time in WDW? Well, this June we are meeting up with our family from Kansas and it is their first time. I've never been in a situation like this. When i went the first time, none of us had been yet. And now when I go with my normal crowd, all of us have been, so this will be a little different for us. I'm not sure if I should tell them about everything or let them find out for themselves. You know like on Splash Mountain, should I say, alright here comes the big drop?? Or should I treat them the way I was treated my first time and let them be surprised? What do you think?

I've done this. I would see what they want to do. Commando or Relaxed.

My group went commando so that they would get as much into their limited time as possible. Between my sister and I we are about 12-15 trips into WDW since childhood and we know how to get as much done into a little time as possible.

This would include PS's and EE days, Fast Pass & Show times.

Don't spoil the rides but guide them into getting what they want out of the vacation without wasting time on lines or bad transportation choices.

Good Luck.

Isn't it special sharing Disney with a newbie? I'd agree with DisneyPro - don't spoil the rides. I'd also make sure you talk to them in advance, show them the Disney DVD and find out what sorts of things they are interested in so you plan accordingly.

I like to also leave a few surprises. For example, I am taking my sister and 4 adorable nieces and nephews to Disney and on the DCL in Jan 2005. There are a few surprises I plan to leave out - like breakfast in Cinderella's castle (if I get it), a limo driving us to the cruise, the Boardwalk view of our villa, secret porthole rooms on the cruise, etc.

Best of luck!

My sister and her family met us at WDW last October and they had never been before. They didn't read the guide book I gave them prior to the trip, so they had no clue what they wanted to see or do, other than what *I* had suggested. Her three kids aren't into the characters like my son was, so I think they weren't very excited a lot of the time. I also felt like my brother in law was really bored, and I felt a lot of the burden was on me since I was "leading" the way. It was hard. We eventually started splitting up and meeting up for meals, etc. and that worked out well. It's a lot of work to go with another family, so I must say good luck!! :)
