We are going 6/5-6/9. It is me, my hubby, our 6 yo son, 9 month old daughter and 4 other adult family members. Anyone have any tips on what worked or did not work with a baby? Luckily, my daughter is pretty even tempered and should adjust pretty well. We also have a lot of hands to help. I am just curious if there are any "unknown" things to do with babies.

Thanks!

I am going in 2 weeks It wil be me, dh, my mom , 3.5 y/o twins & my 10 mo old dd.

I will let you know!

My suggestions (most gathered from here) from a trip LY with a 10m old are:

1. Bring a cheap plastic shower curtain liner (dark in color) and a few of those 3M clips for the wall that can be pulled off. You can then create a little "room" for the pack and play in your hotel (we did this in a corner of the room), so the little one can sleep without seeing everyone.

2. Bring a baby Bjorn (carrier), for the ride lines and rides, if she can fit in it still. (we felt a lot safer with her in it while on rides (small world, peter pan, jungle cruise etc.) than loose and able to crawl around.

3. Bring a towel into the park. You can drap it over your stroller and block out some of the commotion if she can nap in her stroller.

4. Take a break EVERYDAY for a nap back at your hotel (esp. easier if you are on property). Everyone is then refreshed and can stay out a bit later.

5. Bring a lot of snacks for the lines (puffy's, cherrios, crackers)...just be careful so they don't all end up on the ground for everyone else to step on.

6. If your stroller doesn't have a rain cover, bring an extra rain slicker for it (target has them for just a few $ in the travel & sporting areas).

7. Bring your own stroller. The parks rent them, but they are not too good for little ones to lay in. (they are really $$ too).

8. Use the baby care centers. They are great for feeding/diapering/ or resting. (they also have toys for older siblings and bottled water)

9. Use the Baby Swap at all rides they allow. This feature allows 1 parent to ride (with other children/people in party), then non riding parent gets to go on ride through fast pass line when the riding parent returns (up to 2 people get to join them too-- so it is fun for other siblings to ride 2x).

10. Bring music to play in your hotel room and or run heating/aircond fan to create white noise while the little one is sleeping and you are still awake. (we brought our IPOD with speakers and put it under the pack and play, playing Disney Music of course).

11. Most importantly enjoy your self and slow down!

Last year our youngest was 9 months when we were there.

*Bring plenty for her to drink while at the parks. You can find lots of water and pop around the park, but not juice or milk.
*Have sandals for her to wear instead of socks and shoes, they aren't walking yet and it is a nice way to keep them cooler while sitting in their stroller.
*We attached toys to our sons stroller, so he had something to do while we were waiting for the older ones to do their thing.
*Any ride that doesn't have a ride restriction, they can go on. Small world is a big hit at that age too.
*Play areas: Outside across from Mickey's house is a nice playground for little ones, under the train bridge by Splash mountain is another area to play at. In MGM the honey I shrunk the kids playground is fun. In Animal Kingdom there is the Boneyard, Epcot has a play area inside the Mission Space Exit...follow this thru the gift shop and down the hallway and it is in the back to the right. I know there is more, I just can't think of them right now.

Picture taking is the best at this age. While I waited for the older ones, we walked around and took lots of pictures.

Thanks so much to the previous two posters for all the great tips and advice!! :thumbsup2

We are taking our (then) 10-month old daughter in late August. I am so nervous about the logistics of travelling with her. The last time we had little ones, we took our then 18-month old - but that was a LONG time ago. (I spaced my children a very long way apart.)

A couple questions: if we're staying at a Disney resort (the Polynesian and/or AKL), will the crib be an actual crib or a pack-and-play?

What did you did to contain your little one in the hotel room? I was thinking of renting an Exersaucer or something similar from one of those baby equipment rental companies.

If you think of any other tips, please send them our way! :)

Many thanks,

Disneyfriend

We went last August with a 9 month old - the absolute best thing we did was order some battery-operated clip-on fans to put on the stroller (we had three on there at a time). I could have made so much money if I'd been willing to sell them!!!! I got ours from One Step Ahead, but saw them on some other sites too - they are great for when the little ones want to nap.

What a great idea, Princessjv! :thumbsup2

My dh, dd (5), ds (4) and ds (1) are all going in September. We were thinking of getting two adjoining rooms b/c we couldn't figure out how to get the baby to sleep...he is so nosy! You have now saved us about $2000.00.

Thanks again!

They will provide you with a pack n play in the room with a Disney sheet. We didn't bring anything else for our 10M to sit in. We let her crawl/walk along furniture while in the room (which was really only to sleep at night, nap and get ready in the A.M.). I did bring outlet plugs for exposed outlets and I did a once over on the room at her level before letting her loose.

I will second the post about the clip on fans for the stroller....those things are the best for little ones napping in the strollers.

As far as the room goes, we had afew small toys we brought with us. So he mainly crawled around and played with the toys. We weren't in our room a whole lot, so we didn't have to worry about it much.

We are now going with a 23 month old and I have a feeling I won't be able to keep him in the room for anything :sad2:

Thanks for the great tips guys!! So many things I wouldn't have thought of!
