Going to Wildwood, NJ - need restaurant ideas

:headache:Okay, I suggested Mack's pizza to my family because it came with rave reviews from the Disboards and there were people eating inside and at the counter. We ordered half cheese, half sausage and my husband forked over $20+. He decided he wanted a calzone from a different place up the boardwalk, Frachonis or something like that. So we thought we'd have to wait for the pizza about 20 minutes, so he took off and I told him we'd meet him back in the condo. Two minutes after he left, they threw the pizza up on the counter and didn't even say anything. It's not like they were that busy. We were the only ones waiting for a pizza to go. I mean a simple "here is your order" would have sufficed. So anyway, after peaking inside we realized it was out pizza and took it back to eat. It was horrible!:scared1: I was so disappointed. The crust was too thin and tasteless, the sauce was too thick and also not spicy at all - tasted like hunts tomoto sauce, and the cheese had melted off and was halfway in the box, maybe when he threw it on the counter. The sausage didn't taste like much at all. My son and I were kidding that they were dog treats.

I just wanted to warn others that if they have eaten at Mack's before and loved it, they either have a totally different idea of what pizza should taste like than I do, or Macks has really changed....:sad2:

We don't like Mack's either! My husband says it taste like soggy cardboard with Ketchup on it!

Is Schelenger's still there? We haven't been to Wildwood in about 4 yrs but we used to enjoy going to Schelenger's for seafood. It was a short walk off the boardwalk.

Yeah, somebody told us Mack's was great and we thought it was aweful too! We never did find good pizza there, but we are spoiled by NY pizza.;)

If I saw this thread in the first place, I would have told you to go to Sam's Pizza Palace.

I think the problem with Mack's is that there's more than one location and some are better than others.

There was (don't know if it still is) a place called Sorrento's on the WW Boardwalk. Years ago, they made awesome pizza, but the last time we had it, it was horrible. They must have changed hands.

I was last in Wildwood in the summer 2007. It was in a state of flux then. Loads of new condo's everywhere, and many longtime hotels and restaurants were gone. The economy went south after we were there, so I would imagine it's changed even more.

If you truly want the best pizza at the Jersey shore, go to Maruca's in Seaside Park. Lots of people rave about Mack's in Ocean City, but I think Maruca's pizza is lightyears above it.

I am sorry to hear that Mack's wasn't good at all. I haven't had their pizza in over 10 years. I responded to your first post, to go to Sam's pizza. They have the best pizza on the boards......
