My daughter wants to go to WDW the week of the cheerleading competition in March (12-16) to watch it. Am I crazy to consider this? Is it packed in the parks and resorts with thousands of cheerleaders?

Our family vacationed at WDW last year during the cheerleading comp's and the crowds didn't seem to be that large. Our only complaint was the cheerleaders would start doing cheers while waiting in line. Although it wasn't painful to hear, it was pretty loud.

We are returning again this year, same time and yes the cheerleaders will be there, so it isn't a concern for us.

We are heading to WDW for cheer competition 2/27 - 3/6. My understanding from the coaches/owners is our girls won't have alot of park time. We're sending 4 squads, and their initerary is as follows:
2/27 - arrive at WDW and hit the parks
2/28 - practice and more practice
2/29 - Competition all day (or until all squads are eliminated)
3/1 - head home!

DH & I and my kids are then staying till 3/6 to really enjoy WDW!!!

Can someone clarify for me please?
Momof5cubs says the cheer week is the 13-16...
01Sweetpea says it's 2/27-3/1...

We'll be there March 14th-19th, and I just wanted to know in advance....

Thanks!

We were in the MK at night time in March 2001 when it seemed to be very crowded due to cheerleaders. This was the only time we've had a bad experience with an E-ride night (too crowded) and it was probably a combination of spring breakers and cheerleaders.

It could be the groups get a small window of opportunity to visit the parks, and this window of opportunity falls at the same time for all of them with most or all visiting the MK. If that's the case, it would be good to know when that occurs.

There seems to be several different events taking place over the next few months. The link below gives the real information:

My understading is that cheering runs most weekends from Feb. thru April. However, not all are sponsored by Disney, and therefore are not listed on the WOS activities. Many different cheering associations (NCA, UCA, Americheer, Contest of Champions, etc) hold their Nationals there every year. Our dates for Nationals changed 3 times before the owners/ coaches decided on the 2/27 - 3/1 dates. It depends under which header and which bid to Nationals the cheerleaders are cheering under.

We stayed at one of the all star resorts during the cheerleading competition. (we didn't know it was going on when we booked). It was frustrating because lines were huge in the food court and they were so loud cheering everywhere. The also crowded the pool area, however hubby was quite pleased with the array of 17 year old Bikini clad gals...LOL. I was glad they came in at the end of our vacation.princess:
