going to WDW open house DVC tomorrow

I was told there is a big difference between buying from WDW vrs. buying resale. The sales person told me that WDW tightened the rules on what resell points can be used for.....can anyone give me more info on this? Thanks

Disney changed the rules for resale buyers to push people into buying direct at up to double the price.

Buy from Disney if you have to finance or if you want to use your points outside of the DVC resorts.

You should spend some time reading all of the posts here about buying a DVC interest. The subject is discussed almost daily. The more you know the better prepared you will be to make this financial decision.

This link is very nice to understand the basic difference. I would like to point that maybe it is a little old when it says:

More expensive: Although it varies by resort, DVC's pricing can be 10-50% higher than a similar resale purchase.

I'm buying SSR for less than half of what Disney asks directs: direct it's 100% more than resale. Other resorts have similar savings.

But if you want to buy Aulani, you'll have to go direct, very few contracts on resale for the moment.
