My parents and I are going to Washington DC in May, and i was just wondering if anyone knew any good places to get food. Me and my parents are bigg foodys and love to eat. I have never been to Washinton DC before and am excited so if you have any really cool places that i could go with them that would be cool.

PS(I am 13 so not really grown up things):rotfl: :rotfl2:

Hey! I'm actually going to D.C. April 19 for 4 nights. I got some good tips and stuff from Allie on here, she lives near there and was really helpful. If you want, I can forward the stuff she sent to me to you.

-Tom.

ive never been, and i dont like educational things.

you all will have to tell me all about it!

I JUST got back from DC.
Go to Hard Rock. Basically, the other places we ate were just, like, food courts.

Yeah that is really cool i would love to see the tips and stuff.

For our class trip, we went to tons of food courts, but the best was in the Old Post Office (I believe). There was a nacho/taco place, and let me tell you:

THOSE. NACHOS. WERE. THE. BEST. NACHOS. IN. THE. WORLD.

Not even kidding. They were freakin amazing.

The chicken sandwich at Hard Rock Cafe is decent, too.

Even if you don't like educational things, D.C. is beautiful (although HOT). There are some pretty amazing memorials and statues there, malls, museums, and well, I really loved it there!

Just beware the Metro at rush hour! Never again! :scared1:

Cool i love nachos and will have to try it out:goodvibes

I live just about an hour from DC.

Hard Rock is good, of course.
I also suggest, if possible, riding over to Baltimore.
Its not that far for DC.
They have a lot of great restaurants along the harbor.

We went last July for the 4th of July and stayed 6nights... some of the place that we liked were the Spy Museum, we took a Night Tour and saw all the monuments in the dark that was really cool... We went to the Capitol 4th Concert they have every year at the mall... We got a tour of the White House which was really cool and I learned Secret Service people are actually pretty nice(security was worse at the visitors center at the White House...) We also took a tour of the Sumpreme Court that was real fun and all. We also got to take a tour of the Capital. We spent a day at the air and space museum and we saw 3 of there movies but we learned after the first one we had already seen them in Nasa for free. Places we liked to eat were Clyd'es which is just by the Verizon Center and Spy Museum we ate here 3 times on our trip and each time was wonderful. We ate at our hotel restraunt every morning and one evening. We ordered Chinese one Evening and it was the worse chinese food ive ever tasted dont get Chinese food in China town. We ate at a few food courts... If you need any information feel welcome to PM me.

My parents just got back from a weekend trip to DC today :]

I've been there probably 4 or 5 times.
Hard Rock, like everyone else said.
DC isn't really known for it's food, but it's still really fun.

I wonder what Allie would say..

Well, honestly, until this year, meeting so many people NOT from D.C. its kinda weird..when people get all excited to go,
or talk about how beautiful it is
or talk about how fun it is
I mean i can hop on a metro right now (NOT A SUB A METRO) and be there within less then 15 minutes...

I never really thought about it too much, i mean shea our nations capital, but seriously it never occured to me.

I honestly, l dont know whats good to eat.

I guess on the weekends, all of the hot dog stands, and things everywhere.
Nothing beats a greasy hot dog, on a beautiful spring day, from an ACTUAL food cart.

Its pretty cool.
I still am amused by it xD

The best cafeteria in the city is the one in the National Gallery of Art... The museum's not too bad either

Like someone said above, stands are always good and you can find them pretty much everywhere.

I live a short drive away so I go a lot. I'm sure you'll have a great time. :thumbsup2

Wow... I'm going to DC with my grade in May and we are in north NJ... maybe I'll see you there (doubt it)

You're about to find out;)

Honestly, anything you do there is awesome IMO.
But then again I go there like every Saturday so the thrill of going to DC has kinda faded like Mouse said.
Food is good.
But I must ask one request from all of you going to DC sometime soon.
GO TO THE WWII MEMORIAL! IT'S AMAZING AND THEY TURN ON THE WATER WHEN IT'S WARM OUT! SO AMAZING!
One of the best memorials ever!
The Lincoln Memorial is also pretty amazing.

Hi I am back from Washington and it was a blast!!!
We left on Thursday for the 5-6 hour drive and boy was it LONG!!!!!!:surfweb:
We finally got there and found our hotel which was really cool. The hotel was in the best spot because you could walk almost anywhere and there was a bus stop right across the street. We checked into are room and it was pretty nice (two beds and a good bathroom). When we were unpacked we were pretty hungry so we ordered roomservice (nothing fancy chicken pesto panini and some platter). It was pretty expensive. The next day Friday we took the circulator (bus) and went to the American Indian Museum (the main reason that we went there was because my mom heard that they had an awsome food cort which they did). The things in there were really cool! For lunch we ate at the food cort, it was set up by places like South America ect. We got some really good stuff like short ribs raped in banana leaves. After we went to the Natural history (in my last post i said that this museum was closed but it was the American history that was). It was like the one in New York. We were pretty pooped after that, but decided to go to the Air and space museum that was cool and i went on a simulator and spun upside down! That night we went to a resturant called Zatanya which is owned by a famous chef. It is Mediterania and the style is the plates are small so you order 3-4 each person. We ordered a lot ( Falafl, pork chops, tartar, red peppers and feta, sausage, home made pita bread). The next day Saturday we went to the monuments (Washington monument, and lincoln) Then we went on the subway to go to madam tussauds wax museum but we were hungry. Some we stoped at this very local diner style place called Lincoln waffle shop. It was good! Reminded me of a better version of Cracker Barrel. Then we visited the house were lincoln dies on our way to madan tussauds wax museum. The wax museum was really fun they look so real! My mom took a pic with Brad Pit and i took a pic with Jonnhy depp! After that we were supposted to go to the crime and punishment museum but it was not opened yet, but the guy at the door let us take pics of dillengers car! So instead we went to the spy museum and that was cool! It was expensive but you pick a person on the wall to be who is close to ur age. That night we went to this resturant right next to china town called Matchbox. Very cool and known to the great pizza. We had no reservatoin but got in after less than 30 mins for a table for 3. We got to pizzas and a stuffed veal! The next day Sunday we went to the holocaust museum which was very sad. There was a lot of sucurity. After that we went home and got there in time to have dinner at grandmas for mothers day! It was one of the best birth day presents that i have ever gotten and i had a very good time!
Thanks mom and dad i love you! :worship: :worship: :worship: :cool2:

There's a really good restaurant called Queen Makeda. I live near DC, and you MUST ABSOLUTELY go to this restaurant. It's bright green, you can't miss it. Get the Shiro, the lamb, and the greens. The address is 1917 9th St
Washington DC 20001. Also, go to Thai X-ing. It's this tiny lil' place on 14th street, get the salmon there. Hope that helped!
