How far is it from asmu to the gate @ universal studios by time and distance? We will most likely hire a cab or town car for our day trip. It will be my dw and i . Is there a shuttle to consider?
Thanks.

Greetings,

I have been researching the same issue, and not happy with the answers. Yes, you can get a Town car (I have used Tiffany's Town Cars before with good luck), but it looks to be about a $75 charge from any Disney Resort to Universal. I have also heard that Mears runs a shuttle service for I believe about 12 dollars per person, but you would have to check on that one. If you are really adventurous, you could go catch the Lynx at Downtown Disney West side (public bus for a $1.25), but you would really need to investigate the route (http://golynx.com). I think route numbers 302 or 303 and it looks like it takes a while.

It is about 17 miles from the Downtown Disney area to Universal and is esimated to be a half hours drive. Either way it looks painful to me and a real source of contention. There should be a better means to get between these competing parks, as they are really so close to each other.

James

the lnyx bus route 300 to 304 will not work, they run twice a day, the go into disney in the morn. and go back to the yard empty then they come back to disney in the afternoon empty then go to whereever there routes may take them. to get from wdw to universal on a bus is not quick. however you could try Lynx travel planner and see how they tell you to go just put in for starting address disney ticket and trans. center and universal orlando guest drop off.

Thanks for the info. We'll be taking Tiffany from the airport so i'll talk with the driver. A bus is too "on the cheap" but a cab would not hurt. I suppose there will be cabs outside of Universal to get us back.

Mears is the way to go!!

Mears was $13 round trip per person for the two of us.

We called the day before. Go to any house phone at WDW or your room phone and dial "0" and ask to be connected to Mears. They gave us a choice of pickup times and we waited at the front desk of Ft. Wilderness and the disabled accessible van was a few minutes early.

The lift is super easy, we were able to drive our scooters straight on and he took us straight to Universal and it took about 20 minutes to get there.

We were advised we needed to call two hours ahead of when we wished to be picked up. The parks closed at 6, and we wanted to do some shopping, so we called about 5:30 and were given a 7:30 pickup time, and right at 7:30 the van showed up again and took us straight back to Ft. Wilderness.

We each tipped the driver $1 each way.

This was much easier than unloading the truck for the scooters and driving over ourselves and a lot less expensive than a cab.

Hi clkelley,

Is that Mears price ($13) per person or for both of you? If that is really for both of you that is a great way to avoid a lot of hassle!

James

Thank you Carol!

That is still a great way to avoid a hassle. I accosted the Lynx site to find out the exact "on the cheap" route. No reply yet. I really would like to see their site more tourist friendly. I suggested a one click for routes for dummies like myself. I doubt I will get a reply. Thanks for your info!

James
