Going to try Typhoon Lagoon for the first time. Advice?

3 pieces of advice - (first two involve the shark reef)
1 - Rinse out the gear they give you in the outdoor shower before putting it on. The chemicals are very strong and bothered all of us.
2 - Wear a life jacket even if you're a strong swimmer. It helps you float slowly across the top of the pool. I didn't do that on our last trip and I regretted it.
3 - Family raft ride at TL is terrible compared to BB. If you want to do it, ride it early as the lines get very long. It's a quick ride and not worth more than a 10 minute wait.

Have fun! Mini donuts rule.

ETA - We would choose BB over TL any day. We usually do two full BB days and only a half day at TL. We wouldn't even bother with TL if it wasn't for Shark Reef and the coaster.

3 GREAT pieces of advise. Fully agree! :thumbsup2

A good place to "camp out" at TL is to the left of the wave pool (when facing it). The main pool fans out on this side creating a small lagoon. There are two small slides, both about the size of a regular home swimming pool slide. the waves in this area are reduced to just bobbing and the water is about 2 feet deep. This would be a good play area for your skittish young'un. There is also an entry into the lazy river nearby and lots of shade.

Ooooh, I like the sound of this. Thank you!

Want to add to the above 3 points - at shark reef float and then slowly exit the entry area. alot of people as soon as they step off immediately freak out. Also stay to the side away from the viewing submarine and follow the contour of the outside wall. It is a much longer route. There is also a rock that they let you kneel on about 10 feet out from the start ledge to get your bearings.

And also they tell you to sit on the side of the entry area. DO NOT slide off the edge lift yourself up and plop in. It is very rough since they redid the attraction.

We like both water parks. TL is more relaxing BB is more slides and on the go.
