Going to the parks without my backpack ?!?!

Cargo capris a must! Little Canon Powershot in one pocket (in a sandwich bag so it doesn't get wet). KTTW(w/charging ability $$$) in another pocket along with $20.00 (for the Margaritas I might encounter) and a tiny compact collapseable brush/mirror (about 3 inches round) that I found in Target (for when you get off Splash Mountain or Kali River Rapids). Oh....and I'm terribly pale (that darn Irish heritage) so a couple of packets of sun screen wipes. Good to go....no baggage checks for me!

On top of wearing cargo pants, i bring a shoulder bag and a back pac to store In the locker. I want to be perpard for anything, extra change of clouthes in case we get caught In a rain storm!,or get just to wet on SM or KRR. snacks, water and pop frist aid kit. I am Diabetic so I have to have lots of extras. I store the Back pac In the locker and just switch lockers when we goto another park. The shoulder bag has any Imediate things I might need at a spur of the moment. Its probally alot of over pacing but I am ok with It, I will carry It and feel good knowing I have It with me.:goodvibes

Oooohhhh, I don't know. My backpack to me is like a blankie to a two year old. Let me know if you do it and how it goes. Not sure I can give mine up! :confused3 I'd love to go without it, but haven't got the courage up yet. I often throw left overs in the bag for later. Do you think they will send a 1/2 eaten turkey leg and pretzel back to my on-site room for me?:lmao:

:rotfl:, now that's a good one!

What I did for my last trip was to get a caribinder clip for each person in our group. They are $1.00 in Walmart in the camping section. One side is a clip (looks like what rockclimbers use - although these are not strong enough for rock climbing). On the other side is the clip that will attach to your water bottle. We all still use them now at home. This way everyone is responsible for their own water.

I did have one smaller backpack for us that we all shared in carrying. It was the kind that had a cooler on the bottom. I would put an extra coupole of waters, ponchos and suntan lotion. during the day as we went thru things that backpak turned into a fanny pac. The backpak came from a company that my friend worked for. Or if you want have the kids drink one water before leaving for the park. Then have the one on the caribiner.

I also carried my camera bag. Here is my bag http://www.tamrac.com/welcome.htm

I love this camera bag. I don't wear it like the guy in the photo. THe strap wraps around your back and the bag sits in front like a sling to one side. I can fit my DSLR and two lenses, and extra battery, manual, and there is a pouch for all the cards money fastpasses etc. I also put a big HUGE ziploc in case of rain I just take out the ziploc so camera doesn't get wet. I don't even feel like I am carrying a camera. The best part is -- while I am walking around I can literally unzip the bag, pull out my camera take a photo and put back into the bag without anything falling out.

Maybe I'm high maintenance but I always bring a bag for myself! Last year I packed a mini-backpack that was nice and light with very padded straps. It fit nicely into all the security nets on the rides. I needed a place for my water bottle, chapstick, sunscreen, camera, phone, wallet, and poncho (yes, I am one of those poncho nerds on the Kali River Rapids.) :rotfl: For me, I'd rather be over-prepared!

I, too, am a Kali Poncho Nerd. The more I plan, the more I think I will need my back pack. I am such an over planner and over packer. My backpack is an extension of me. :lmao: I won't be in the parks until May 29th and I am already packing.

Hi, My name is Katina and I have a Disney obsession! - Step 1
I am sorry, Home Depot, for all the Mickey Head paint chips that I have taken. - Step 2

:rotfl2:

I like to take a wristlet bag that clips to my belt loops, that I can tuck in my pocket if the need arises. I can also wear it around my wrist, but I usually only do that when we have left the parks or are going to a restaurant.

In it, I stash lipbalm, lipstick, mints or gum, id, insurance card, card with ADR's on it, cell phone (which is also a camera), cooling stick and sometimes a small pot/tube of sunscreen. Also, usually a folded up napkin in case I need a quick tissue. I keep my sunglasses on my head or clipped to my shirt.

We go bagless because we hate waiting for bag check. DH wears cargo shorts with several pockets and holds the camera in a ziploc bag, small sunscreen, and his wallet with tickets. I always wear shorts with pockets and carry a small amount of cash and chapstick. It is so nice not to have to worry about losing anything. We have never been there in the rain so have not had to deal with the poncho issue yet.

Oh, how I remember the back pack...THE FIRST DAY ONLY.....Luckily, each of us had shorts, pants or capris that were sort of cargo style....After that, it was down to one of us carried the camera (Sony Cybershot) in a zip lock baggie, we each had a lanyard with KTTW and insurance card and we had two rain ponchos from Dollarama that were folded up REALLY tiny - the one who didn't have the camera had the ponchos in their pocket - that was it....I hated how the backpack kept the heat in, and it was something that was on/off/on/off to visit the attractions. And it seemed to get heavier as the day went on (although we didn't buy anything...) For a couple of days, we clipped water bottles on our belt loops but I found that was even a nuisance....

When we took our son, we used the locker and put the pack in there with an extra outfit, etc - we figured it would be easier for one of us to go get it if we needed it than to carry it around all day in the heat.... but our last trip we didn't even use the lockers at all....

I also noticed on the last trip that people are carrying bigger and bigger back packs, and when they turn around, they actually hit people....and I saw one lady in one of the shops back up (must have forgot how big it was) and hit a display and knocked over some mugs, etc which got broken....but did she stop and apologize....noooooooooo - left quickly.......

Well I started with backpacks of everything recommended on the Dis... and now I am down to a Vera Bradley all in one wristlet. DH keeps the camera in his pocket... I only carry the backpack if there is SERIOUS rain predicted since I'll need ponchos. Oh and I carry medications in a little carribeaner I have but that's only my emergency meds for my allergy and migraines. Other than that, we fly by the seat of our pants now! :rotfl:

Cargo shorts!! Also, I carry a retracting lanyard that I clip to a belt loop. I have a plastic sleeve attached that carries my credit card, kttw, cash, fp. I just saw this in Solutions which looks do-able. Belt that expands in one section to carry things-not so fanny packish looking. http://www.solutions.com/jump.jsp?itemID=15627&itemType=PRODUCT&path=1,2,4,494,539&iProductID=15627

I also have this, but not sure I want to wear it in the middle of a FL summer.
