Going to the parks in October?

We've never been to WDW in October but may have the opportunity to go.

It would be the second week of October. I've heard that is a good time and the crowd level is low. Anyone been that time of year?

Also what is the weather like then?

Thanks!

The crowds are lower during this time but the Food and Wine Festival will be going on so the weekends at Epcot may be busier.

Weather wise, it can be everywhere from hot to cool depending on the year. I would still consider it shorts weather but there are times when it can be chilly at night.

I will just say to beware, because that is Columbus week, and I've heard it can get kind of busy a few days prior to and after that long weekend.

Columbus day has been very crowded the last few years. Last year we got to MK and turned around and came back to the resort to swim. The whole long weekend was packed. It was just crazy. Mid October used to be very slow but has gotten a lot busier in general.

Weather is ok. Can rain a bit in the afternoon and be chilly at night but not as opressive as other times.

Crowds are lower than most of the year (except early Jan)

Make sure you go to Food and Wine at EPCOT (weekdays are less busy but weekends usually have a theme like photography weekend or bugs weekend). Also you would be able to go to Mickey's Not So Scarey Halloween which is fab. Its a seperate ticketed event and its from 7pm til midnight and you can trick and treat around Magic Kingdom. Its brilliant and you see loads of people (kids and adults) dressed up and they have a special parade and special fireworks display

We went in mid oct. 2 yrs. ago. It was pretty hot for usthat week(high of 88). We are from the north and had been in cooler temp. for a while. It was great for swimmming though. Nights were still warm.
We were actually surprised at how crowded it was on the weekend. I guess we expected to see thinner crowds.
The MNSSHP was great. I would go then just to attend that!

Food and Wine at Epcot should be good with all the acts for the little older crowd. IE: The Beach Boys and Three Dog Night

We go every year in October, either the first or the second week. Crowds are pretty good, but it has always been quite warm. Last year we had more rain than previous years, but still was okay. Epcot F&W festival was great. We never go at a different time of year, however I would like to go at Christmas sometime. This year we will be there on Columbus Day. Which park should we go to on that Monday? Thought about doing a water park, do you think they will be just as crowded?

For us Canadians...When is Columbus day anyways? :confused3

Thanks

We've been singing Jeremiah was a Bullfrog since we found out Three Dog Night will be performing when we go in Oct. This will be our first Oct. trip to Disney also. First F&W Festival and first MNSSHP. I'm hoping the weather will play out nicely for us. And we are super excited about MNSSHP. We've got tickets to 2 parties just so we don't feel rushed.

TO the Canadian Poster. Columbus day in the US is celebrated the same date as Thanksgiving is celebrated in Canada. (We live in Buffalo, NY so are particularly used to the US <-> Canadian conversions.)

When we were there in 2004, there had been four hurricanes through Florida that summer. They encouraged everyone to reschedule that month. Even the CM's were amazed at how packed the parks were at times.

Hope for the best, prepare for the worst, it sounds like it's been a wierd month the past few years.

Columbus Day this year is Monday, Oct. 9th. I was there Oct. 9-17 last year, and it was a HOT week - even in the evenings. The nights really didn't cool down much until the end of my week there. I really enjoy the Food and Wine Festival, so I'll be back Oct. 10-15 this year.
