What a year it has been...We've had some really rough patches in our family over the last year, and I'm wanting to try to turn this around.
My dad started suffering from some sleeping troubles, which was assessed by MRI. That MRI led to the diagnostic of a terminal, stage 4 brain tumor! it was completely unexpected and led to a sudden death 6 weeks later. This happened this last october. From there, within a couple months of that, early this year, my MOTHER this time was diagnosed with a brain tumor as well! and she already suffers from Multiple Sclerosis. She's been very ill, and is losing her ability to function from day to day, quite rapidly-which led to a follow up exam yesterday. They have discovered that she has a rare degenerative eye condition which is going to likely cause her complete loss of vision(become blind) over what will likely be the next year.
Devastating is the word coming through my mind right now. To make matters worst, because she has been so ill and unable to work, she is in the middle of losing her house.
Both fiance and I are currently working 2 jobs-which means I generally work around 90 hours/week, and because of our combined income, we are able to make a trip to Disneyland in October. Now the trip was meant to be for the 2 of us, but now that all this has just happened, I want to fly her into LA(we are driving down from Calgary).
I dont know if you remember last year, but we were able to surprise her on her birthday, with a scrapbook i made, which ended with pages that had 2 plane tickets and hopper tickers for her and I-I will load the video again for you guys. It was magical. She cried of course, and it was a truly special birthday for her.
Because of the current situation, I want to take her down. Our trips are numbered, and her vision might only allow her to go once more before she becomes blind-hard to type this without getting upset.
How to surprise her? open to all ideas.
Any ideas?
