Hi everyone!

I did do a search on this forum but I couldn't find the answers I need, even though I am sure my questions have been asked a thousand times

My husband and I are going to Disneyland (from Northern British Columbia, Canada) for our first anniversary, my birthday, which all happen to be on Valentines Day. The plan is to do three days at Disneyland; California Adventure Park, one day at universal, one day at Sea World. We are staying at a hotel 5 mins from Disneyland. The other helpful info is that we are both under 25 and don't want to pay the extra for renting a car (they gouge you!). So my questions are:

1) LAX to Disneyland? Cheapest way possible?
2) Disneyland to Universal? Can you take just a normal bus or is there something better for a similar price?
3) Disneyland to San Diego? Is Amtrak the best or is there something else? And if Amtrak is the best option how far are the stations from the attractions?
4) Does Disneyland do anything special for Valentines?
5) Any safety concerns going from a restaurant to hotel outside of Disneyland?

:earseek:

Okay, I think that is it for now...
Thanks a bunch!

Sorry, the only question I can answer is Valentines. In the past DL has offered a special dinner/dancing package at the DL hotel but they haven't been very popular. I haven't heard of anything being offered this year.

Oh, and I've had some experience eating offsite. As long as you don't venture too far from the resort area, you'll be fine. There are many options along Harbor Blvd which is well lit and heavily traveled, so you should be fine.

Are you making your plans through the Disney Travel company?

1) LAX to Disneyland? Cheapest way possible?
We usually rely on the airport bus or shuttle

2) Disneyland to Universal? Can you take just a normal bus or is there something better for a similar price?
I went on a tour bus that picked me up in front of my hotel (right across from DL on Harbour) and took me a couple of blocks to a bus station that you chose your tour which mine was Universal Studios and they took you to the park and told you when your bus would pick you back up to return you to your hotel. Cost was not bad...I can't remember how much it was.

5) Any safety concerns going from a restaurant to hotel outside of Disneyland?
We have not had any problems in the past. My first trip, I was on my own and stayed at the Carousel Inn and did not feel in danger due to the number of other DL visitors walking around.

No answers for 4 and 5.

Hope you have fun!! We will be there the following weekend!!

1. Shuttle - about $20 one way if memory serves. We went with Super Shuttle and found them very efficient. You can book ahead through their website, then just go to the traffic island out the front of the terminal and approach the attendant - the shuttle may make a few stops before you get dropped off though (though as only 8 can fit in the shuttle, usually only 1 or 2).

2. There are plenty of tours which don't charge much more than the entry fee. Some combine the trip to Universal with a an hour or two looking at Hollywood, LA sights etc - good way to do both in one trip.

3. Can't help here - we drove, although again, there are plenty of buses and also one day trips to Seaworld and the Zoo if you don't want to move hotel.

4. See above.

5. None whatsoever - even in December there were enough people around to always make you feel safe.

Oh, and you'll find Tigger in "critter country" right between the exit to Splash Mountain and the exit to the Winnie the Pooh ride - right outside the entrance to the Pooh gift shop (of course). We found him (and Pooh and Eeyore) there about 10, 11 AM.

I just checked Amtrak prices to San Diego. From Anaheim for two: $68.00. From the station, you'll need to either take a bus or taxi to get to Sea World. You'd be better off renting a car for the day. There's an Avis near DL on Harbor. Just checked on an economy car around your travel dates: $21.00 before tax. Even adding gas and parking, you'll still come out cheaper.

A few years ago the Vinyard Room at DCA had some special Valentine's offerings in addition to their regular menu. It was fabulous. I'm sure they still do it.
