Taking advantage for the RT non-stop from Miami to London for only $400 this May (had $1200 voucher on Delta so we are going for free). Using hotel points to stay at Crown Plaza near Buckingham Palace for 5 days and looking into fun things to do in Dublin. This will be my 4th time and my DP first time in London. Anyone have any suggestions on things to do in Ireland? We are going to rent car for 4 days (no car in London).:goodvibes

Hi sorry not been to Ireland but can I suggest when you are in London you go and see "Pricilla Queen of the Desert" it is the most fabulous West End show and is an easy walk from anywhere near Buck Palace. Have a great time!!

Londoner here - There is so much to do in London I cant begin to list but do agree with Priscilla - although there are a million and one excellent shows.

We have an office in Dublin so Ive asked a couple of mates to send me ideas to pass on but the general concencus is you have to...

Drink Guinness in a back street pub - there is nothing like guinness from an irish Pub - i hate it but even I loved it there.

have an irish fry - its a breakfast heavy on meat products that is to be tried to be believed (not so good if you are vegetarian!)

see a live band - preferably in a backstreet pub - there is nothing better than irish bands if you are feeling low a real mix of melancholy and joy rolled into one!

Dublin Castle is suippposed to be a good visit - great if you are a history buff...

and then there is the shopping.

if I hear anything else ill pass it on.

have a great trip!!!

Thanks! I was actually thinking of seeing show on West End (was in London several years ago and saw Marry Poppins before it came to NY).:cool1:

I love, love, love Ireland! Just walk a lot and soak up the city - I second the suggestion that you need to hang out in some pubs, listen to music and drink Guiness. Kilmainham Gaol (jail) is a great place especially if you're into history. Trinity College for the book of Kells, a literary pub tour and Temple Bar are all cool. Here's a website with some good info:

Chocolate!!!!! The real Cadbury "stuff" is heavenly, being Irish when my dad would visit his sister's he always brought bags of it home. Another good website is www.visitIreland.com. Have a wonderful time it's a trip you'll never forget.

Tour of the Guinness Brewery, try the hop off/on bus tour , is supposed to be quite good, if you have a car, what about a day at the races, also we usually visit the National stud and japanese Garden about 1hrs drive from Dublin.
lots of pubs to try, and lots with traditional irish music on at them.

Dublin is a great city to visit, especially if you like to walk. Temple Bar is fun, be ready to party!

I love the Long Hall at Trinity and of course the glimpse of the Books of Kells and Omagh.

Get out of Dublin if you can. Take a drive in the countryside. It's so incredibly beautiful. Take all the way down to Cork if you are able to! It's a beautiful city too and the "true" capitol of Ireland to many folks. :teeth:

Oh, and the Guinness is perfect there... be sure to see out an extra cold tap.

No matter what you choose to do in Ireland, it will be grand!

Staying at the Westin in Dublin for three days (looks like a great hotel right in the Temple area). Will have car and looks like only option is valet parking (at somethinglike 33 euro a day!)

Westin is a superb hotel and in an excellent location.i would forego the car, unless you plan to go outside Dublin, not sure over 3 day stay going to Cork as its about 3 hour drive to there and same back depending on traffic. Belfast could be a good day out ,about 90 minute drive quite simple to get to, and nice and compact city to get about

Can't really help with Ireland, but if you have time whilst in London, I'd say go on The London Eye and go in The Natural History or Science Museum. They're really good fun.
