Hubby and I are going for our 30th ann. just the 2 of us. We booked a lagoon castle view room . anyone have room numbers .We wanted a king bed but I will take the view over the bed . Also the turrent rooms are they for couples only and do they have views any suggestions or ideas I would appreciate.

I'm guessing GR means the Grand Floridian as you mention lagoon views and turret rooms.

The only way you can guarantee a king bed is to book a honeymoon suite. They're in the main building on the 2nd floor and come with concierge service. All these rooms have a view of the castle. If you're booking a regular room in one of the outer buildings, you should decide which is more important, the view or the bedding and list your requests accordingly. I wouldn't advise asking for a specific room number on your reservation. If it's not available, the room assignor will have no idea why you requested it and you could end up with 2 queen beds overlooking the wedding gazebo. Best to keep it simple and feel free to ask the CM at check-in.

Two of my favorite outer buildings, both with great MK views, are Sago Cay and Conch Key. The turret rooms all have garden views and actually sleep 4 guests, with the 2 queen bed setup. There is also a little sitting area in the bow extension that has a sofa and 2nd television. The turret rooms on the top floors do not have balconies. They are priced a little higher than a standard room. Another style of a standard room is the dormer. They are located on the top floor of the buildings and have the "A" frame style. These also come with 2 queen beds and sleep 4 guests. They're a little smaller than a standard room, but have cathederal ceilings. The balconies are also different. In the standard rooms, you'll get a nice sized balcony with open views and privacy panels between each balcony. In the dormer room, you have a private, almost enclosed balcony, smaller and solid railings.

Just so you are aware, you can book a lagoon view but you can not book a castle view, they are a request only and are never a guarantee.

Yup, by my count, upwards of 35 to 40 percent of the lagoon view rooms do not have a view of the castle. I'm counting in there lagoon side rooms in boca chica that have large trees in front of them.

For the OP, the question whether to request particular rooms numbers is a tricky one. My view is that you're better off not being so specific -- asking for a particular building or room is better. When you ask for a room number, if that room is not available, I don't think the room assignors spend a whole lot of time trying to figure out why you wanted the room and then giving you something similar. I think you just end up with whatever's next in your room class.

When I booked the room for lagoon room the man that helped with reservation said to say castle view as my request and they would do everything possible to try and get room for me. They are usually pretty good about this as I have stayed in polynesan and contempory and requested and always got what I asked for. Hope it is the same for grand floridan

Actually, the "turret" rooms are in the concierge honeymoon category, and are located on the 3rd, 4th, and 5th floor of the main building. They have lagoon/beach/pool views, and no balconies.

As far as the king beds go, I only know of one room with a king bed AND a castle view. The king bed request is a very difficult one for them to accommodate. There are a few more in the garden view category. If the king bed is very important to you, it may be best to book a concierge honeymoon room - which you could get your view by requesting the jacuzzi honeymoon rooms.

For some reason, I always refer to the lodge tower rooms as "turrets". I guess because of their bow shape. I wasn't sure if the OP was referring to lodge tower or dormers in her original question.

Your thinking is right, and I'm not sure why they call the lodge tower rooms what they do, since they are turrets and not towers? I don't know, lol. Actually, I wonder why they just don't call the lodge towers "junior suites" since that's kinda what they are.

They will definitely try, but this is their most requested view and sometimes they just can't give it to all that ask for it. Therefore I would certainly not ask for specific room numbers and leave it at Castle view and hope you get one.

Probably because at the Grand all suites include access to concierge and the Lodge tower rooms, unless located in Sugar Loaf, do not. Calling them Jr. Suites might cause confusion along those lines. :flower:

Indeed, that is the only category that can guarantee a king. The GF has very few kings otherwise. As for views, there are 3 Honeymoon rooms (octaganal) that do not have castle views, and instead have views of the Wedding Pavillion and the Monorail. One additional of the octagonal rooms has a limited castle view. And some of the regular shaped rooms on the 2nd floor have a tree partially obstructing the castle. Not a big deal to most, but some find the partial obstruction unacceptable. It should also be noted that they are for the most part, standard rooms, and not suites.

We had a dormer room in Sago Cay, Castle View with a king size bed for our honeymoon. They DO exist...just few and far between.

That's a beautiful view from that room... my parents stayed in that room a few years back when I first started working for the company.

That's exactly the room I was thinking of. ;)

Actually, there are shops located on the 2nd floor where the turrets are.

Now, there are trees where the 2nd floor honeymoon jacuzzi rooms are, which might be what you were talking about.

The Honeymoon Room category has two different types of rooms. There are the regular shaped rooms on the private 2nd floor, and then there are the octagonal rooms located in the corners on the 3rd, 4th, and 5th floor rooms. The higher you are, the better view you get out of the octagonal rooms that face the MK.

I guess I should have been more clear.

I would lOVE to have that room again!!! I actually requested a king bed room w/ a view of the castle. Needless to say, I would take a twin bed to have a view of the castle. Should I call WDW reservations and cancel the King bed request? We sleep in a queen @ home and I almost prefer it...DH wanted the king bed, but...it's just not necessary!!!

As long as the castle view was listed before the king bed, I'm sure you'll be fine. :)

I just looked at my confirmation and king bed was listest first, even though I told the CM that the castle view was more important. I think I *WILL* call and cancel the king bed.

We were recently in Sago Cay, room 5344 and had an unbelievabe castle view - I could watch wishes from the balcony or from my bed. There were 2 queen bed and a daybed in the room.
