Going to first MVMCP. Have some questions.

My wife and I have decided to take a quick long weekend trip in November to see some of the holiday stuff. We are thinking of getting tickets for MVMCP on Sunday November 15th.

We don't plan on getting park-hoppers for this trip so I was wondering if we purchase party tickets, we can visit Animal Kingdom during that Sunday morning/afternoon then at 4PM be let into the Magic Kingdom with our party tickets correct? This technically wouldn't count as "park hopping"?

Also, what are the lines like for attractions during the parties? Are people there more for the special fireworks, parades, and holiday activities more so then the rides?

We took in the second parade last December, crowd was way smaller than the first parade. Rode BTM with no wait during first parade. Was not a big wait for any ride except 7DMT which was like 30 min most of the evening. Had fun with fireworks, dance parties and eating and hot chocolate. We didn't care about meeting the characters so that wasn't a issue. Enjoy!
