Hi,
I have been lurking for a month or so and have decided to register and submit a post :)
My husband and I are going to be visiting Disneyland/DCA June 16-20 without our three children. Does anyone have any suggestions for "doing Disneyland w/o children"???

Tracy

That sounds fun, Tracy! We're going to be there around the same time. I don't really have any specific suggestions other than maybe try a few sit-down restaurants and take it slow and really enjoy the park rather than rushing to ride the attractions. I'm glad you stopped lurking--you're going to have a great time!;)

Thanks for the reply....we are planning on making reservations for lunch at the Blue Bayou. The Rain
Forest Cafe and ESPN in DD look like they should be
fun too. I'm starting to feel the guilt over leaving the
kids at home but we did take them last November :p

We have traveled several times without children and always find lots to do. Of couse we still are big kids.

I would suggest trying the Vineyard room in DCA for a nice sitdown meal. It is expensive (Dinner: $36pp w/o wine, $50pp w wine, $85pp w reserved wines), but very worth it. You can expect to spend about 2 hours dining here.

You can also go to Avalon Cove bar in DCA and have a drink, relax and watch people riding California Screaming and see everyone on Pairadise pier.

Take your time in the Animation studio at DCA (different than the one in WDW) and visit each of the 3 locations inside and then enjoy the main lobby of the studio. (Wow is the only thing I can say to describe it).

Lucky1,
Thanks for the tips...they sounds wonderful. Do you need reservations at the Vinyard Room at California Adventure???

We have made Priority Seating reservations the 2 times we have visited, but they have not been crowded. I would say to be on the safe side to make PS reservations.

I hope you have a great trip, Tracy. I am jealous -- I would love to go with my husband, without the kids!

Hmmmm..... I would definitely go to the Blue Bayou, Hook's Point, Avalon Cove, and pretty much every place in Downtown Disney that involves sitting and enjoying the ambiance. I would probably skip the character meals and buffeterias because we do those all the time with the kids. You can usually get PSs the day before -- it isn't like WDW where you have to plan months in advance. At least not yet!

Teri,
That is so funny....when we decided we were going to add this short Disneyland trip to the back end of a six day conference in Las Vegas my husband's first words were, "Since we won't have the kids we can skip the character meals."
We are so looking forward to seeing the parks from a different perspective. We will definately be doing a lot of sit down meals and just people watching. :p
We can't wait to check out DD and DCA....things were very much under construction when we were there in November, it will be nice to see everything finalized.
Thanks for your input!!!!

DCA is especially great w/o kids! there's so much to just "take in". And there isn't as much of interest to small children either! We ate at Brennans Jazz Kitchen (downstairs) and had a fantastic meal! (DH & I took my niece and her husband their for their 1st Anniversary! Great Planter's Punch!)

My wife and I (40-somethings, no kids) spent three delightful days at Disneyland last month.

Highly recommended for dining: Hook's Pointe, at the DL Hotel -- our favorite restaurant! -- and Brennan's. Great creole and cajun cuisine.

Downtown Disney has a WEALTH of shopping and dining opportunities; we found it MUCH nicer than the one in Orlando, and MUCH classier than City Walk at Universal.

We got some terrific park food at the BBQ/Mexican joint right next to the Big Thunder Railroad. Try it and enjoy!

We were less thrilled with some of the dining options and rides at DCA -- the park, as a whole, is interesting but not as much fun as other Disney parks. And: the restaurants all shut down VERY early, right after dinner time. Weird. But "Soaring Over California" is an instant Disney classic, destined to join the ranks of
"Pirates," "Indiana Jones" and "Space Mountain"!

:D Thanks to all who have responded to my question :D

I'm sure we will have a wonderful time, I'll post a trip report when we return.
