I was jusst wondering if anybody was going back to Disney World after the attacks. I heard that it was practically empty. Has anybody been letely that could tell me what it was like?
Well, I'll be able to tell you in 4 more days! My friend and I started planning this in the first week of Sept. and by golly, we are goin'! Just try and stop us!!! We felt it was so important to keep going and keep those plans and that we need Disney as much as Disney needs us.
We are going in 12 more days. October 20 - 28, and I can't wait. It will be the first time my wife and I have been with kids. We are taking our 8 month old son. We can't wait to see what he will do.
We were just there Sept 19-23 and Thursday-Friday it was really quiet. Thursday morning we went to Epcot and parts were like a ghost-town- walked right onto Journey to Imagination ride and we were the only ones on it. But the weekend picked up. Friday night was busy at MK due to Spectro, but they did shorten park hours and cancel one spectro parade. Saturday was busy, I think with lots of locals. But crowds still weren't unmanagable. We are going back Nov 27-Dec 2nd for another short trip. (3rd time in 6 months for a record for us - trying to get the travel bug calmed down in our systems before our baby is due in the Spring).
Castmembers said that their hours were getting cut due to low crowds, but they were hoping things would be picking up when the 100 Years celebration started in October. A lot of conferences cancelled for right after the terrorist attacks, and I don't know if they rescheduled or not to bring future business. I think there are some good hotel rates out there right now though since resorts aren't at capacity.
I would say if you are wanting to go - go! They did bag checks at the entrance to each park for security sake, and we felt prety safe there. Our flights were fine too - though we were a little nervous for our outbound flight, but the security delays weren't anything major.
In spite of the 9/11 attacks,
in spite of the ongoing retaliations,
in spite of the anthrax,
in spite of the goofball who tried to enter the pilot's cabin,
we leave tomorrow.
The only other choice is to stay at home with two very disappointed kids (who are out of school anyway for fall break) and feel angry, afraid, and sorry for myself.
We leave this saturday (10-13-01)!!! We are going to DL in Ca.....I am sooooo psyched!!! This will be a surprise trip for our kids...they think we are going to Branson and St. Louis!!! I can't wait to see their faces as we dirve to the gates of the happiest place on earth!!! But it's killing me to keep the secret!!LOL
My sis is down there right now......10/5-10/14, and said it is still crowded......only a little less crowded than in march when she ususally goes.......she said you would never know by the crowds we were in a recession or at war.......still 45 minutes wait s for all the popular rides
Who knows, they just looked in. I think they did it as a comfort factor. If you had a test tube or something, a knife or a razor some might have seen it, some not.
