We are going to Devon for half term next week and was wondering as it is still winter if there will be much open?

We are using our DVC points at a place in North Devon called Croyde Bay. Does anyone know where this is? I have checked that there are two pubs within walking distance from the appartment and they allow children into them.

We are apparently (according to Disney Vacation Club) overlooking the Ocean. We are taking a kite and lots of DVDs but will not be able to DIS for a week!!! We have not unwrapped our Disney trivial pursuits game and have not watched series 4 of 24 yet, which we are taking with us together with lots of alcohol.

Will miss you all but will not miss work!!! (I only have 3 and half days left at work as am taking off Friday afternoon to pack)

Hi Sue

Im afraid I cant help with any of your questions as I have never heard of this place, I have a feeling most major attractions open around Easter time, but Im sure you will find loads to do or just chill out with nice walks and plenty of fun playing your games and watching your dvd's. Have a wonderful time. :goodvibes

Not sure what sort of attractions are there?? You can always go surfing :)

Hi Susan,

Croyde Bay is a lovely area, really nice. There aren't that many attractions nearby, but a few within reasonable driving distance would be the Milky Way indoor play thingamy, The Dinosaur Centre at Combe Martin - all of which I would imagine would be open for half term.

Our half term in East Devon isn't until the week after so with a bit of luck you might avoid the crowds!

Hi,

Croyde Bay is lovely and we tend to go to North Devon in the October Half Term.

Some of the attractions don't start their summer season until March but you'd need to check the indivdual sites for opening times as they may coincide with local half term dates.

Thanks everyone. The dinosaur park looks good, but I can't find a website. I noticed the Watermouth Castle does not open until Easter.

At least the pubs will be open!!! Hopefully!!!

DS (18) and his dad go to Croyde Bay for the surfing :thumbsup2

DS introduced DD (7) to an outdoor play area, in the village, a couple of summers ago and she was impressed :goodvibes

Thanks Bonzo for that link. My search engine didn't pick it up. Unfortunately another one that does not open until March.

The 10 days forecast says rain but we have our hooded coats (DH will have to use an umbrella) and our hiking boots so I know we will have a good time. (Not to mention the vodka)

Just can't wait for a week off work.

DH bought a new Sat Nav last night and is so excited about using his new toy for our trip to Devon.

Many thanks everyone for your help. Only two days to go :Pinkbounc

Hee, I always find it funny when people come to North Devon on holiday, because I live there! :sunny:

Croyde is brilliant, the beaches are gorgeous. On top of Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park and The Milky Way, The Big Sheep is worth a look - a bit further away than The Milky Way from Croyde, I think! All of them will be open for half-term, I would have thought. Plus, of course, there is always the surf - Croyde has held international surf meets!!

Have lots of fun and look out for me if you come to Barnstaple! :wave2:

Hi Emma!

Lucky you - lovely neck of the woods.

The trouble is that half-term varies around the country so the attractions may open for Devon school half term which may not coincide with other parts of the country.

We find this in October when all your schools have gone back and we get the last sessions of the season.
