Going to CR from WL

We are staying at WL and I'm wondering if instead of taking the boat over to the Contemporary, can we drive our own vehicle and park in the Contemporary lot? We have a character dinner at Chef Mickey's over at the Contemporary. Afterwards we plan on heading over to MK and staying for fireworks (depending on how long we stay for dinner) otherwise we'd try and watch the fireworks from the Contemporary. Would it be okay to leave our vehicle in the Contemporary lot while we went to MK or would we have to move it? Or would there even be any spots available to even drive over there? It's just easier for me to be in my own vehicle because of medical issues (but I don't have handicap parking). Thanks

The Contemporary security guards have become very savy to the fact that people want to park there and walk to MK (creating a situation where CR guests can't find a place to park), so they screen everyone carefully. Our experience has been that they issue a 3 hour guest parking pass to those dining there.

That's understandable, I guess I could see a lot of people doing this and then there'd be no parking for the people that are actually staying there. I just realized anyway that our dinner isn't until 7:40 pm and the fireworks are at 8 pm so we won't have time obviously to get over to MK anyway. I just want to make sure we can at least drive our own vehicle over there to eat and then we'll be on our merry way.

It should be no problem parking your car over there during dinner ........ the Disney resorts expect that some people will need to do that. Some people stay off site but eat at WDW resort restaurants. The California Grill attracts the locals, too, and they'll have their own vehicle.

We've noticed, however, that if there's anything special at MK (ie, MVMCP or MNSSHP), the guards are even more careful.
