Hello, we are coming to see Cirque. I am so excited, I havent been to chicago in 10 years. Gone all the ways around it and near it, but not to all the great fun things downtown. That being said I currently have a ressie at the Holdiay Inn in Michigan City, but I really dont want to stay there if I can find something else under $200. We are taking the indiana transit train into downtown so it would have to be walking, bus or cab ride away. Any suggestions or places to avoid? I would feel better about staying in downtown than the worn out holiday inn in Mi City with my mom and DD. Thanks!
So many great hotels in downtown chicago. I would really recommend staying downtown, it's fabulous! I've stayed twice at the Hotel Monaco and loved it! I've also stayed at the Millenium Knickerbocker-very nice too. I've also stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott which was nice and clean, but nothing fancy. If you're not super picky on specific hotels, I recommend trying Priceline. You can get good rates there usually (well under $200 for a 4*). I got the Millenium last May for $90 a night.
I recently stayed at the Palmer House, found a great pre-paid rate through AAA for $125/night plus tax. I was going to try priceline, but since we had 3 people and they only guarantee room for 2, I was happy with the rate I found and stuck with it. 8 blocks from Union Station, and in the middle of the theater district. We were very pleased.
We stayed at the Days Inn in Lincoln Park North for one night. I think the price was closer to $100/night. It is rated as one of the best Days Inns in the country and has a great location. The room was clean and spacious, but not as nicely furnished as a Westin or Hyatt would be. It is very centrally located, and I felt very safe.
You need to stay downtown. Your travel time to get the Cirque from Michigan City would probably be about 2 hours each way and not very exciting either. Try Priceline; search Holiday Inn hotels, all the Hilton properties, all the Marriott properties you will definately be able to get a room for unde r$200, it will just take a little work. DO you have AAA, do you qualify for a gov't or teachers rate? What are the dates of your travel?
We are going Aug 12-13. I didnt know it would take 2 hours by the train, ughhh! I do have AAA. The days inn is booked, I just checked that one. Thanks for all the suggestions everyone!
i've only been to chicago once, stayed at the downtown marriot. it was a great hotel in a great location. what an awesome city, you should have a blast!
I just did a quick check on travelocity and there are plenty of rooms available downtown. The lowest price for a good hotel is around $200. I suggest trying priceline in the River North, Michigan Ave areas, Loop areas. If you loook at biddingfortravel you'll see there are many successful bids for some great hotels in that area for $100 or less.
