I am doing Fall 2011 CP at WDW. I am a practicing Catholic and would like to attend church during my program. I will also not have a car. I was wondering if anyone has attended church during their program. Just let me know anything you know.
Thank you!

The nearest Roman Catholic church would be the Basilica of the National Shrine of Mary, Queen of the Universe, a part of the Diocese of Orlando's tourist ministry. It is located across the street from The Commons Housing Complex, and is conveniently located within walking distance to all three of the other housing complexes. For more information, visit their website at http://www.maryqueenoftheuniverse.org/.

The nearest non-tourist ministry parish churches are Holy Family Catholic Community on Apopka-Vineland Road and Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Celebration. St. Jude's Maronite Catholic Church, and St. Nicholas of Myra Byzantine Catholic Church, Eastern-rite churches that are also considered part of the Diocese of Orlando, are also located nearby.

You can also visit the website of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orlando at http://www.orlandodiocese.org/.

I had hoped to go to church often on my program, but I worked most Sundays. Never in my life had I missed church as much as I did on my program! I maybe went 6 times in 9 months! I grew up going to church every sunday(except when sick) and and after I got back from Florida, I went back to going every Sunday. Hopefully you'll get lucky and have sunday's off pretty regularly! I knew some cps who were that lucky, but they weren't church goers.

Another Catholic checking in. The Mary, Queen of the Universe Basilica has approximately eleventy billion mass times Saturday evening and all day Sunday, plus daily mass every day. If you're scheduled to work during all possible mass times, (and many weeks, you will be) then you're excused from going to Mass.

Since I was at work nearly every Saturday and Sunday for often insane amounts of hours, I was not at Mass most Sundays. That said, since I usually had Wednesday and Thursday off, I'd usually find my way to a daily mass on Thursday, which based on the way I was scheduled was the closest thing to Sunday I had while down there.

(Hint: Once you get down there, you're likely going to hear the sentence "Today is my Monday/Friday/etc." a LOT. If you work Friday through Tuesday, with W/Th off, then Saturday would be your Tuesday, etc.)
