I am going to Amsterdamfor a weekend with some girls from work. :cool1:
We go on Friday 1st December, after work, flying from Liverpool John Lennon Airport and we come home on Sunday night.

We booked the flights last week, and we have booked the hotel today.

Does anybody have any advice on must sees and must do's.

I hope it won't be too cold. :woohoo:

Never been to Amsterdam Loraine, but your trip sounds wonderful, hope you have a great time :thumbsup2 :cheer2:

Long time since I've been to Amsterdam so not much help I'm afraid. Have a great time :)

Be careful crossing the streets. If you don't cross at the corners, you may have to swim across to the other side.

I've never been, so can't offer any advice, but just wanted to say that I hope you have a fab time :thumbsup2

just returned from a weekend in Amsterdam. It was fantastic! Must sees are the fantastic buildings (they have pulleys on the top of them to get their furniture to the higher floors, as the stairs are so narrow!) the red light district (its not at all seedy) the many museums, Anne Franks house, the diamond factory, the coffee shops, the floating chinese restaurant (beautiful food) etc etc! You can take canal boat tours to see a lot of the sights, the candle light cruise is great you get free cheese and wine during the cruise!
We were told to think of Amsterdam like a clock use Central station as 12 it helps you to get your bearings. You will have a great time! We are going again late next year.

I've been to Amsterdam a couple of times, I didn't know what to expect on my first trip but absolutely loved it. My Fiance proposed there last year
Places to visit: Floating flower market (not sure if this is seasonal though), Rijksmuseum, Van Gough Museum and a Diamond Factory. If the weather is nice it is great to sit outside a cafe and just people watch, we found a great Irish Pub near the big casino and sat outside for a couple of hours.
I hope you have a fantastic trip

We have been about 8 times in the past few years, usually for a long bank holiday weekend. Going back again in January for my 40th, just booked the flights with BMI baby £31 return.
You won't have a lot of time, our favourites are Anne Frank house, Van Gough museum, Red light district, Heineken Museum, Floating flower market, Cheese and wine cruise & Rijksmuseum.
If you want a organised trip while there the company below are very good all English speaking guides, we have done most of their trips and never been dissapointed.

Have been to Holland and Amsterdam quite a few times on business. Amsterdam is so easy to get to from the airport (Schiphol). Just head for the Schiphol Plaza when you come out of the baggage reclaim hall and you can buy a train ticket either from the ticket office or from one of the ticket machines (you need change). Just head for Amsterdam CS (Central Station). Takes about 20 minutes and costs €3.60 for single 2nd class ticket.

Trains are efficient, nearly always on time and cheap :)
