In the past they recommended 2 hours prior to departure, with the new measures, what are the recommended times. I was told leaving out of Edmonton it was 3 hours now!

I would like to know as well! We will be travelling from Winnipeg to Edmonton and finally onto LA...then in reverse comming home. I hope it all runs smoothly for everyone!

If you are flying from LAX into Canada then you need to be there 3 hours before departure. Most carriers are requiring 3 hours for an international flight now. At the moment is you are flying from Canada into the USA you need to be there 4 hours or more ahead.

Check with the carrier as to what their policy is.

Well we went down Dec. 27th just as this was all starting. From Edmonton to LAX it took us 3 hours in the line ups, but carry on's were still aloud on Westjet that day. Our flight ended up being 2 hours late. Coming home was no problem. We came home Jan. 5th from LAX to Edmonton and we were there 2 hours before and were through security in 30 mins.

So my understanding now is that no carry on going into United States but carry on is allowed leaving the States, can traveler's confirm this?

LAX is the worst for security. If you have kids, they may send you upstairs by going to the elevator, and bypassing a huge line. We try to pass by the security guard that sends people straight to the 2nd floor.
