We are going to go up Friday for a last minute weekend for our first vacation having AP's!!! :goodvibes I looked on the DLR website and the hotels don't have too much of a discount. :confused3 BUT they are a lot less expensive now then they will be for most of the year. I am wondering if we should just take advantage now and spend more than we would have liked (Dip into savings) and finally get the urge to stay in one of the DLR hotels. I have never been able to do that, and since it will only be for two nights it won't be too bad. I think DLH is the least expensive. Dare I say it, will it be WORTH the extra $100 a night? Don't hurt me. :rolleyes1

:lmao: I just want to be either totally convinced or talked out of it.

As with much of life, it's totally up to your individual situation. If you can look at the regular hotel prices and think 'that's not too bad', then do it and have a good time. I prefer to go for discounts, but I remember getting a 'discounted' room at GCH for $250 night and being super happy with it. Lots of things were factored in: time of year, special occassion, etc. etc. But the bottom line is I didn't mind paying it. However, in general I won't spend that much for a room.

There are a lot of nice hotels close by, some have dedicated shuttles, some you can walk to the parks, some have breakfasts.

If you just want to stay 'on property' and you think you will be back (Of course you'll be back, you have AP's right?) then you might want to wait to book a DLR hotel until the prices are more inline with what you would like to spend. Also, you have better chance of getting discounts (at least on property) with a little planning. I don't think you can book AP discounts within a few days of your stay, but I could be wrong.

Stay off site this time, stay on site next time. :) The DL hotels will still be there later. :) But whatever you do, have a GREAT time this weekend!!!!

yeah, I probably won't then. I looked at a calendar of the discounts for the whole year and unless those change I don't think we have any plans to stay at a DLR hotel. I guess since we're not there as much anyways it will never be worth it until we have kids or something that we have to take back midday for naps and everything. I think we're going to stay at this hotel I found on Harbor for $79 a night. I will have fun this weekend though! I think it might rain, so I hope the crowds won't be too bad! I never got a chance to really see the low crowds during my trip earlier this month. Tuesday was the only day we experienced walk-on rides and everything and that was the day we had to leave! :sad2:

Weekends are always busy. Always.

This weekend there are 2 cheer conventions and about 45 of the Dis Divas will be there. Hopefully, Captain EO will draw a lot of the crowds into that que and other waits for attractions won't be outrageous.

Uh oh, I shoulda remembered. I went last year during the cheer convention also and it was busy. :headache: But the next week is March and any weekend during that time will be crazy because of Spring Break.

Work hard to play hard so its a vacation. Vacations are for splurging. Its the experience and excitement of staying on Disneylands premises also think about the convenience of getting back to your room.

This weekend is going to be super busy because Jr. Cheer Nationals will be there. I am going this weekend as well but only to watch the cheer nationals.

You will find some super good rates for the DLR hotels, don't give up. We stayed at the PPH and the GCH, the GCH was only $200 a night for a DTD view room! LOVED it!!! The DLH rates just never worked out for us so we never stayed there. Don't give up, and don't discount the additional magic of staying on site, just save it for when room rates are super cheap. :)

We were in the same boat. I've had the Hojo's booked for months and last night I said to DH, "Oh how I'm gonna miss not staying at DLH". The AP rates aren't the best we've had, but certainly not terrible. So at 10 last night DH said, "Would it really make you happy?". DH is the best! :lovestruc Needless to say I had DLH booked by 8 this morning. ;) There's something so special about staying onsite even if it does put a big dent in the available funds. Plus with the forecasted rain, I like the idea of hopping on the monorail and taking a quick break if need be. Good luck and no matter what, have a great time!

Awww, good point! Yeah it should be raining, I hoped that would effect crowds but it's ok, I just really want to go! We still haven't booked our hotel though, so hopefully they aren't full. :sad2:

Do they change all the time? Wow that's cheap! I want to stay there someday. :cloud9:

Yeah, with the rain being an issue this weekend you and Heymy make a good point. I dunno what we're going to do, I just know it's going to be fun!

Where do the Cheerleaders perform and where? So at least I can look forward to them being gone for part of the day right?

They do some really good deals off season, our $200 a night DTD view was in early November and it was sooooooooo worth it. Did you join the AP section of disneyland.com? If not then do!! You'll be able to log in and see the current rates and what the specials are. But the good prices go fast so keep that in mind.

Yeah I have joined! I couldn't wait to once we got the tickets. :lmao: I will keep that in mind. I can't wait to see lower prices! :goodvibes

Cheer competition is being held at California Adventure inside the Hyperion Theatre (where Aladdin is being held).

I've seen the PPH hotel down to $109 a night and the DLH down to $130 and the GCH down to $204 which is what we had that weekend in Nov. :)
