Going this weekend 28th Feb... advice please

hi folks,

im going to disneyland paris this weekend for 3 days and 2 nights... staying at the holiday inn or now known as magic circus hotel or something along the lines of that.

recently a colleague of my mum commented on the crazy high prices for food in disney... she said £35 for fish and chips?!?! is this true?

are the prices for lunch/dinner really that expensive?? usually we pay £10-20 per head in the uk so i dont mind paying something along the lines of that. but if dinner is going to be, over £30 per head and for 3 nights... that will be at least £180 just for dinner for both of us... not including lunch/breakfast and general other costs such as snacks and drinks.

could someone give me a quick review on prices in disney please?

any advice on how to save money without reaching too deep in the pocket? pack lunch, etc...?!?!

if someone could comment on their recent trip, that would be much appreciated please.

so i guess the £35 for fish and chips must have been for two then. still quite expensive though...
last time i went was 15 years ago... and taking into account inflation and euro exchange rate against the pound... need to dig deeper!

For snacks at lunchtime I would recommend popping into the station shop, just outside the Park gates. They have a wide selection of baguettes and sandwiches as well as crisps, drinks, biscuits, snacks etc. Lunch for 2 is easily possible for less than 10 Euros.

We came back on Sunday, for a guide this was our bill for Rainforest cafe:

1 Rainforest burger with cheese and bacon, chips and side salad.
1 Big Rainforest burger with the above but extra burger.
1 Kids fish and chip meal with orange juice
1 large coke
2 black coffees
1 portion of garlic bread with cheese
1 share volcano choc dessert

84 euros (the dessert was 17euros on its own!!!!!)

Mcdonalds

1 Bigmac large meal
1 Royal Cheese large meal (quarterpounder with cheese)
1 Happy meal
1 bag of fruit

17 euros

Cable cafe

1 slice Cheesecake
1 slice gateaux
1 large hot choc
1 expresso coffee
1 fanta still orange
1 double choc chip cookie

13 euros


We also went to the Buffalo Bill show which had a meal included we paid £92 before we left UK, but I noticed that the hotel reception (santa fe) had 50% discount if booked whilst out there.

We got Fish and chips in Toad Hall for about €10 each and that was with 2 pieces of fish each. Definetly the Best Counter meal we had in DLRP.

Credit crunch lunch: smuggle out fruit, rolls, anything you want from breakfast that you think will survive. I think there were babybels or other mini wrapped cheeses that found their way into our pockets last time. Cheap (as in slightly trashy thing to do) but definitely effective.

We usually have a day where we don't have an expensive lunch (eg any sort of bought lunch) and survive on bits of cheese, fruit, a roll, etc. I have even been known to eat yogurt with my fingers.

Then have a sit down with a coffee and something 'nice' a bit later on - half a croque monsieur or a cookie should do it....

have you considered going Half Board for your trip?

You can only book half board if you are staying on an onsite hotel, so unfortunately this option wouldn't be possible-I think it's definitely worth considering though for anyone staying onsite.

When we were there last weekend, counter meals (ie the McDonalds style restaurants in the park) charged between 10-12 euros for a burger (or say fish, or ribs or chicken), fries, drink and dessert (a little cake or yogurt). Annettes do a 20 euros set menu which is very good value and much nicer food! For a lovely meal you could try the Silver Spur steakhouse in Frontierland-main courses start at around 15 euros. A lot of the table service restaurants do have set menus which are worth checking out to help keep costs down. As the others have said, it's possible to take your own food into the park too.
