we have always gone in October, back when October was relatively cheap and crowds were low and weather was always gorgeous. We loved October.

It's been about 7 years since we have been, and every time we think about going we are bogged down with when to go...kids are teens and won't pull them out of school anymore. Vacation weeks are always full of other activities. Summer is way too hot!

One thing led to another and I booked an impromptu 4 day trip last week for the end of July. We know it will probably be way too hot, and likely will rain (something we've never dealt with). And the crowds!

So trying to wrap my head around dealing with the crowds and typical wait times. I know I can set up my 3 fp+, but if we are say at MK at rope drop, how fast do the more popular rides build their lines up? How fast/crazy do wait times get? Any July experts out there have advice? Or those who have gone at other busy times?

We went in late July last year and crowds were low to moderate. Attendance patterns at WDW have changed in the past few years. October now is actually a lot more crowded than it was during your last visit several years ago.

The thing to watch out for will be weather: heat & afternoon rains. Wear waterproof shoes, bring a poncho, hat with wide brim to block sun or a special UV umbrella to block sun.

We went in July 2015 and yes it was really busy (but a bit better than Christmas!). We did get up and get to the parks but to be honest I can't remember how quickly it got busy. We tried to book our fast pass starting about
10.30 am. What I do remember is the rain. Id read that you'd get rain in the afternoon and then it would clear, but some days it never seemed to stop. Perhaps we were unlucky :(

We have been a few times at the end of July. It is hot. It is crowded and it will likely rain on you out of nowhere. Maybe more than once. Welcome to Florida in the summer.
Benefits are longer park hours, which make taking a mid day break, and going back to your resort( assuming you're on property) for swimming a rest and some lunch. Then back at it for evening hours dinner and so on.

The best way to enjoy Disney in July, is to pack a good attitude, and a determination to have a good time no matter what.

Take full advantage of indoor shows, rides like Spaceship earth, little mermaid, the aquarium, people mover, Carousel of progress etc.
Drink plenty of water!

Have a great vacation! It can't ever be too bad when visiting the Mouse!

Last year, the July crowds were great. It will be hot and rainy. It is what it is........FL in summer. You will melt. It's brutal. But you will survive.

You have to make the most of the mornings for sure! Do rope drop, schedule FPs at night or 11-2. It will probably rain every day and not just rain but lightning storms where you have to take cover (if you can hear thunder you can be struck) Length of the storms vary. Swimming can be tough in the afternoon as well because of the lightning.

I went the last week of July last summer. I would GLADLY go this time of year vs others. Crowded means different things to different people, but for me, our last week of October 2015 trip rates as the highest crowds I have ever experienced, followed closely by a few weeks ago (first week of April). Both made that July trip seem like a breeze!

Have deodorant nearby at all times,RESPECT the lightning(it is interesting to make a point of noticing the HUNDREDS of lightning rods in the Parks),brush up on your Spanish and Portuguese:) and you'll be fine.:)

Thanks all! Very good tips that I hadn't thought of.

I'm visiting WDW for the first at the last week of July as well. :) Raining and thunders irk me so much, we're not used to it in Canada :P
