I am new to the forums and would like to start out by saying that i have been visiting WDW since i was 3 years old. Visiting just about every year of my life( i live in RI so its a hike!). My wife and I are big foodies and love trying out new places at disney world. We are planning out trip down for Aug 2017 and would like to try some restaurants that we have not been to yet. Also so we can make our ADR's. Can anyone provide some outside perspective or suggestions? A little background on where i have ate before and where we like. Some of our favorites are...
'Ohana, Via Napoli, Narcoossee's, The Boathouse, 1900 Park Fare places like those. nice sit down meals were the food is good. Last year we visited Animal Kingdom and tried Yak and Yeti since we had heard so much about it and loved it. Any suggestions would be great. i can provide more information if needed.

Thanks!

We personally love Morimoto Asia. Please know that it's a different style kitchen, so things come out as soon as their done (which is great). We split a carafe of sangria and enjoy a night at Disney springs.

The service is slow (we really don't mind, but others have complained)

If you're sushi fiends, sit at the sushi bar there (upstairs) .. chat with the chef .... it's quite fun!

The aloha show is a totally different animal. Food isn't too similar.

Show can be cancelled due to cold weather, so just know that going into it.

My son loved the show when he was that age, the food isn't anything to write home about but it's plentiful and they do provide adult beverages.

We fell in love with Tiffins at AK last trip in December. We stopped in Nomad Lounge for a drink before our ADR which we booked for right around park close. Our service was great and the food was wonderful. It was so much fun to walk through the park when it was almost empty as well. We tried Flying Fish that trip as well. Again the lounge was great, the food was good, our service not so much. We just didn't get lucky with our server but I think we would try it again. We love HBD in HS, partly just for the ambiance of the place but mostly because I'm a sucker for a good Cobb Salad. Skippers Canteen in MK is a fun interesting place if you like food that is outside the norm. We loved it.

We too have been going for many many years and each trip we make sure to try at least 2 new restaurants. Ohana being one of our favorites. We had eaten in Boma for dinner and loved it and our last trip we tried it for breakfast and truly feel it was our best breakfast ever - we also love Kona Café for breakfast. Boma is a buffet but the food is so fresh and delicious. We also tried Trails End for breakfast and that was excellent - and the price is so inexpensive.

Whispering Canyon Café at the WL is also very good - we love the antics. Another favorite of ours is Sanaa. We love trying to hotel restaurants - they are easier to get into at the last minute.

Enjoy and let us know what you pick.

What about the Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show? Is it worth the expense?

It's "High School Musical" with a Polynesian theme. The fire dancer was the hit of the show. The rest was not memorable. The food is merely ok. At 13, I would not have liked the show because it's corny at times. My wife and I both felt that, for the amount of money spent on SOA, we could have had dinner at Narcoossee's or any of the other signature restaurants and enjoyed that a lot more.

I totally agree with Boma suggestion. We loved the dinner buffet! I also loved the breakfast at Kona Cafe. We're going to try Homecoming at Disney Springs this July, and I'm so excited!

I hear great things about Tiffens and also Sanna a lot like ohana? We are Italian Americans from New England so we love food. Any place with a great over all experience. What about Tappen Edu? We have been to a multitude of hibachi here in RI and enjoy it. And San angel in Mexico always looks so nice and relaxing.

Sanaa is lovely atmosphere with good Indian food; it has lost a bit of its authenticity in terms of spicing (not spicey, but spices) so it's no longer great IMHO. I don't believe it has much in common with Tiffins. Teppan Edo we were disappointed in; our local hibachi is better so can't recommend. Can't recommend any of the Mexican restaurants.
I would recommend The Yachtsman Steakhouse at the Yacht Club - excellent food and best wine list on property though the atmosphere is more casual then the price point. Also quite good and nice atmosphere is Artist Pointe in the Wilderness Lodge, which focuses on the Pacific Northwest. And if you haven't done Victoria and Albert's it should be on your list - the service, food, atmosphere are fabulous. Enjoy!

We only visit five TS eateries at WDW when we go there for an actual meal.
.
1) We prefer
. . . fine food
. . . excellent, top notch service
. . . innovative dishes with flair and quality
. . . overall great value
. . . relaxed and soothing dining atmosphere
. . . behaved and somewhat quiet patrons
.
2) The only sit-down restaurants we routinely visit,
. . . Sanaa - Animal Kingdom Villas Resort (one of my personal favs)
. . . Artist Point - Wilderness Lodge Resort
. . . Citricos - Grand Floridian Resort
. . . Shula's Steakhouse - Dolphin Resort (no DDP)
. . . Il Mulino - Swan Resort (no DDP)
.
3) Our (nearby) off-site Recommendations:
. . . Bull & Bear - Waldorf Astoria Bonnet Creek - Fine Dining
. . . Café D'Antonio - Celebration - Casual Italian
. . . Columbia - Celebration - Casual Spanish/Cuban
. . . Fish Bones - Hwy192 - Seafood
. . . Venetian Room - Caribe Royale Hotel - Fine Dining
. . . The Hotel Tea Room - Davenport, FL - Casual - Friday Steak-Fry, Afternoon Tea
.
NOTE1: The only time we visit other TS eateries is to renew our ratings for the eatery(ies). And, when we do these, we have "sampler" dishes (whether free or paid) so we can try several appys/entrées without pigging-out or having major weight gains.
.
NOTE2: Now, for a real treat, go to The Hotel and Tea Room in Davenport, Florida on a Friday evening. It is run by a real, true "Little Old Lady" (Miss Mae), who refuses to charge big bucks! They have a rib-eye steak dinner that tops Ruth's Chris' or Shula's. The steak covers the entire plate. They get primals and do their own cutting of the steak. It is an OLD hotel with a small dining room. Has an award winning Pastry Chef from TV and he has Best-In-Show awards for pies, pastries, and cakes !!! Our total bill for the wife and I
(salad, 1½"-thick-after-cooking rib eye, dessert, and taxes) was only $66.00. They have a nice Afternoon Tea. Breakfast is literally all you can eat for $6.00, tax included. Yep, six bucks! Order your eggs, bacon, pancakes (etc). After, you are asked if you want more of any
of the items. NO EXTRA CHARGE. The place is about 40-min from WDW, but really worth the wait. Check them out on Facebook or Internet. Ressies required for Friday night steak fry and most Afternoon Teas. They do not serve alcohol, but you can BYOB for wine or spirits.

We loved Citricos!! California Grill was great too! If you can time your ADR you can go out to the rooftop viewing area for Wishes!

Sanaa is one of our favorites! The bread service alone makes it worth the trip! Also agree with California Grill-one of the best dinners the hubs and I have ever had!

We love Trattoria al Forno at the Boardwalk. The food is delish & the service is very good as well. The atmosphere out on the Boardwalk is really fun too.
