I know you can get free admission into one of the parks on your birthday, bust my girlfriend already bought us 2 day park hoppers for when we go, so thats out the window. Do they do anything else for your birthday, maybe even just a little button or pin. I still have my first visit one from WDW. And where would you go to get this?

Since you will already have admission on your birthday, you will be able to receive an "alternate" gift. You will get your choice of one of:
- a birthday Fun Card valued at $69 (if you are 9 or older) that can be sent on merchandise throughout the Park to buy yourself a gift
- birthday fastpasses
OR
- a ticket to DLR that is good for a 1 day / 1 park visit anytime in the next 365 days

You will want to go to disneyland. com and register for the birthday promotion (if it is at least 2 weeks before your birthday). You will get an email. Take it with you to either City Hall or the Guest Relations booth to get your gift.

You can also get a birthday button and a first visit button. YOu can get these at Guest Relations, the Main entrance, City Hall, the Info / Times board, or other locations in the parks.

You can also get a free bag of tortillas on the tortilla tour if you go into DCA.

Hope this helps,
Dreams

I just did this on my birthday 2 weeks ago as we already had our 6 day PH's. As mentioned by Disney Dreams, after registering online, take your email printout and have a valid photo ID. I simply went to the ticket window with no lines before going through the turnstiles and they took care of my Fun Card and birthday button right there. It was nice spending the $69 and I was able to use it on any merchandise where they are able to swipe a card. It's used just like cash. No food or drink, though.

It's also nice to be told happy birthday all throughout the day but be prepared to notice there are a lot of other people with the same birthday as yours at DL! And I've thought all these years that it was my special day only.......;)

You don't need to register. DH and I went last week and didn't bother to register him for his gift. We went to guest relations - because we needed to pick up our Fantasmic tickets and they were able to do the birthday button, fun card and the tickets for dessert seating all at once. You just need to show ID that it is your actual birthday, or copy of birth certificate if it's for a kid.

Do you have to go ON your actual birthday to get the free entry or gift card? We are going a few days before my DS birthday and would love to get him this! Thanks

Q: I can't come on my birthday. Can I get free admission to a Theme Park on another day?
A: Unfortunately, no. The free admission to a Theme Park on your birthday offer is only valid for free admission on your birthday in 2009.

Q: What kind of identification do I need to show at the ticket booth?
A: Proper valid identification would be a Driver's License including a photo, Government-issued Photo ID, or a Government-issued Passport. If you are under age 18 and don't have any of the above mentioned ID, an original or a certified copy of a Birth Certificate is required. School IDs or children security IDs are not deemed government-issued photo IDs and will not be accepted.

Thanks for the info., I am taking my DD13 on her birthday in August. I didn't know I had to take her Birth Cert, I thoughtthe e-mail would be fine. Thanks you have saved me a lot of trouble.

DH and I have APs so on his birthday we went to DL first for good morning time. Then around 10am we went over to DCA and to the Guest Services there. He picked up his fun card with no line or waiting. He also needed to show his AP and driver's license.

We already picked up his birthday pin when we got our anniversary pins a few days earlier. We made it a game to count how many people told him Happy Birthday all day. It turned out to be 45. :) Oh, and at Cafe Orleans he got a free beignet with a candle in it.

He can still get a fun card, it will just be for $59 (the price of child admission). :thumbsup2

Funny you mention that. I LOVE birthdays. I make a big to do of my DH's and my friends and family make a big deal of mine. After all, it's YOUR day.

When I went to college, at freshman orientation they did an ice breaker where you had to find everyone with your birthday (out of about 5,000 students). I remember thinking at first, "Cool!" which was INSTANTLY replaced by, "Hey! Wait! That's MY day!" :rotfl:

Second time I felt that way? Yep, on my birthday at Disneyland this year. (internal thought) ""Hey! You can't have a birthday button on today... it's MY day."

Guess we all really like to feel that it's OUR day. :wizard:

As noted above, you cannot get the free birthday admission or fastpass or fun card, but you can still pick up the free birthday button and get the birthday phone call.

:( You don't have to have the e-mail. That would exclude people who don't have computers or internet access. It just makes the process easier upon arrival. I'm sorry you missed out of the promotion.

For others, there is a GIANT thread here on DIS where just about every question possible has been asked and answered. Also, disneyland. com has all the information about the promotion as well.

DH never registered because we share an email and that was already registered to me through the Disney site. It seemed like they wanted a different one for each person for some reason. But it didn't seem to matter anyway. It only took a few minutes at Guest Services.

what is the birthday fastpass? would you get that at the ticket booth or like city hall?

You get to pick a few FPs from a specific list and get them for everyone in your group. You would get it at City Hall or the Guest Relations booth outside. You would get that instead of the Fun Card or free ticket for a future visit.

Thanks! This is still great news! I plan on letting my son use this card to buy himself whatever he wants to while at DLR!

It worked so very well with my 5 year old! I never knew how well it would work.

Oh, and since you're going in Oct, after a very likely price-change (upwards), the giftcard will likely adjust upwards with the cost of the one-day one-park pass. So it will probably be more than $59, if they do raise the prices again.

What a bummer for the couple that didn't go b/c they didn't get the email!:hug:

I hadn't even thought of that! :thumbsup2 We are going for DD's b-day in November....that would be great if it was a little more! :)
