Going on vacation -- why so much work getting ready to go?!

Okay so last week when I posted I would not be doing laundry the night before we leave for DL, what I meant to say was that I would be doing laundry the entire day, the day before we leave! Why did I fire my housekeeper before a vacation?!?! oh yeah, she was stealing my clothes and shoes!

I am so excited! But gosh I have alot to do today...

I always do laundry the day before we leave. Then I'm doing it again when we get back. LOL Sorry your housekeeper was stealing your clothes & shoes, yikes!! Yet another reason (besides $$) that I don't have one of those. lol

You know, I just realized that sounded very condescending. I didn't mean it that way at all and I hope none of our resident housekeepers take offense. If I could afford one I would have one.....I would love help cleaning my house, for some reason a 32 yo man, a 12 yo girl and a 9 yo girl make huge messes.....to say nothing of the doggies...LOL

I know what you mean. I still have 2 weeks before our trip but because this Saturday is my only "free" day before we go I'm:

- getting an oil change and tires rotated
- haircuts for all
- pedicure
- and shopping for gifts for next weekends' parties we have oh and disney basket stuff for the kids.

It's never ending!

Probably not... oh well just lucky to get her out of my life!! It's just material belongings that were/can be replaced...

But she did take my LV shoes! Now that is just a crime!

I am always up until at least 1am the night before a trip - especially when it involves going cross country to WDW!

I used to be able to pack in an instant and that is just gone. I was a weekly corporate business traveller for many years and lived out of suitcases. Now, with packing for kids, as well, my skills are down the tubes!

DH is retiring soon and we're taking a 2+ month cross country road trip (NOT camping!) Just the thought of packing and getting ready is giving me the heebie jeebies!

We're leaving this afternoon or tomorrow morning and only the kids are packed (but don't have there swimsuits or socks and shoes yet... better get on to that or I am sure they will be going barefoot.)

While I am normally a late packer/ get ready for the trip person... our reservations are not until Sunday. We were going to leave Friday night if my husband's family was flying into CA for USC parents weekend. Something they have done for the last three years. We were going to find a hotel in that area and meet up with them and do the hollywood stuff then move down to Anaheim on Sunday. But the family decided not to go - their younger child is now in college on the East Coast and only has a one day fall break.

So now that we don't have to rush to leave - I am having trouble getting motivated.

Off to check the load of laundry I am doing...
