I am surprising my hubby with a carriage ride at Ft. Wilderness before our dinner at California Grill on our 5th Anniversary in May. When I called in for the ressie, the CM mentioned that we could bring drinks or food with us on the ride. We'll be at the Magic Kingdom most of the day, but will be stopping back at POP Century to change for dinner before the ride.

We've stayed at POP twice, but never purchased any drinks there. Does anyone know if they sell small bottles of champaigne at POP? Or, is there somewhere easily accessible at Ft. Wilderness where we could get champaigne, or even just a couple of other beverages for the ride?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated - thanks!!! :)

You know, they gave us free champagne on our carriage ride last April, but I think that was because we were on the Romance Plan.

If you'll have a car, head out the property exit by Downtown Disney. At the light where you see the Crossroads shopping center in front of you, turn left. About a half mile down the road on the right is a large liquor store. If you don't have a car, I'm sure a taxi ride would get you there and back quickly. I'm sure they sell champagne on site somewhere, but it might be cheaper enough at the ABC store to even pay the cab fare.

I'm sure the gift shop at POP has at least wine - maybe not champagne. The gift shop at POFQ had wine in Nov. Not all that expensive either. Maybe a couple of bucks more than Wal-Mart.

Thanks for the great ideas so far - we won't have a car at all - flying in & using Magical Express from the airport. Sounds like POP might be my best bet for our celebratory drink. I was just a little worried about taking the bottle on the bus with us on the way to Ft Wilderness. I'm also still trying to decide exactly when I'll tell hubby where we're going that night. He knows about the dinner, but I was hoping to just get him to Ft Wilderness that evening & surprise with the horse & carriage. :)

THe gift shop at the Contemporary should also have wine. You can always bring a bottle with you from home.

Surely someone here at the Dis has numbers for Pop gift shop... dont make me go looking!! :goodvibes If all else fails, either 1. bring your champagne from home on the plane (reason, its cheaper!!) (oh, and YES I did this last July, brought 2 bottles of champagne, we could bring them in our carry on luggage, I also have a champagne stopper I bought at the wine store it was $5 great investment!) or 2. Buy it at one of the resorts, or Epcot - the France place does sell Champagne, its a wonderful vintage, but it costs more than our california "sparkling" wines. I love Chandon Blanc de Noir, its a 'pink color' due to the grapes they use, and how they process them, the Brut is a 'drier" not as sweet, for sweet go for an "Asti Spamanti" from Italy....

Either way, I'm doin it!! :) Its a good thing!! Celebrate - you can get plastic champange glasses, or just bring the hotel glass bathroom glasses, or again, when you hit Epcot, in France, talk to them, they give you taste of wines, for a small amount, its a wonderful experience!!

CONGRATULATIONS!!

Just tried calling, no one answered as its 9 there - just thought I"d post the number for you to call over at Pop!!

Thanks Eeyore45!!! I may just try calling them today to see what my options are. We aren't big champaigne or wine drinkers, but I thought the special occasion called for it. Thanks again for all your help everyone! :)

It will be romantic just because!

Congratulations to you both!!
