Ok, so now we are only 8 days away from our honeymoon to the wonderful World of Disney! We got married on October 25th, 2008...but had to wait until January to take our official honeymoon because that is when dh gets his vacation time. I am so excited!

Did anyone else here go on their honeymoon a few months after the wedding? In another thread, someone mentioned that they caught some flack from guests and CMS...that they were milking congrats wearing the wedding ears months after their wedding. She did say that most offered their apologies and heartfelt congrats after they explained that this was their 'only' honeymoon.

Did anyone experience anything like this? I've got to say that it makes me a bit nervous.

I dont think they'd know you hadnt jsut got married anyway.

You guys wont be lying if you say "it's our honeymoon"

It would be very rude of people to criticise you anyway. Have a wonderful trip!! I'm very jealous!! :)

That is true...we won't be lying. It is our honeymoon.

So, a common question isn't "when were you married?" or "were you married here?"

Thanks! It will be a wonderful trip

we just HM'd in WDW and we were asked by almost every CM 'when were you married??' it seemed they were happiest when we said 'oh! yesterday!' or 'oh! 2 days ago!'...towards the end of the week when we said 'last Thursday' the response was a little less 'magical' lol. It wasnt a bad response by any means, but you could tell they were more 'smiles' when it had only been 24 hours. But I wouldnt worry about a thing...wear your buttons! don your ears!! its really the only time you can get away with it...and its sad when its all over. So who cares what anybody says???? its YOUR honeymoon! We're taking an 'extended' honeymoon to DLP in February, 2 months after our wedding, and im wearing my 'just married' button and bride ears there!!! promise! :thumbsup2

DLP??? That sounds amazing! :lovestruc

LOL, at first I thought you were telling people different dates for when you got married...but...ah, the date stayed the same but it got further away lol.

Hmmm, I wonder if I could just 'tell' people I got married on the 25th....they don't have to know it was the 2th of October. LOL, but wait...then they will think we got married on Christmas day. Oh well.

You are right...we will still have an amazing time. Who cares what they say.

I hope you have an amazing second honeymoon!

DLP is great - you should have your 1st anniversay there!!

(Not in January though, I'm dreading my trip in 2 weeks! Going to be soooo cold!)

That's shame people weren't as excited for you as the wedding got further away.

Alarose, I know a few people who have delayed their honeymoons - so please don;t feel bad about it or like you dont deserve to wear the ears or whatever!

Wear them with pride, and jsut explain to people until they get the message! That's what i'd do.

I think a lot of people do that! We're probably doing it because of a) vacation time off for work and b) finances.

I think there will be more and more couples taking honeymoons quite some time after their wedding in this economy!

We are going back to the world in May and are classing that as our official honeymoon as we feel we missed so much on our wedding trip. But we wont be wearing the ears and buttons on this trip as we did that last time and we feel we have had our moment in the spot light. But I think you have every right to wear them and say it is your honeymoon on your trip as it is your honeymoon.

Sry I didn't respond earlier...first busy trying to get ready for the trip...then I was really sick these past 4 days! Uk! Now, finally feeling better...should be good by our honeymoon in 3 days!

How cold is Paris this time of year?

Thank you. I will wear the ears with pride! My husband will wear his hat...probably not with pride but he'll wear it lol. You'd think with so many people going on honeymoons months after their wedding, it wouldn't such a big deal. I hope it isn't.

Especially during these hard economic times! Yup, that is it just for us too. My dh's vacation days don't start until January, and we needed to save up some money after the wedding. I don't know how we would have been able to go to Disney right after. We would have been in some serious Disney Debt lol

Thank you. I understand what you mean by not wanting to wear them twice. Did you find it kind of... overexposed wearing the ears. Two trips in a row might be too much. I don't know how long I will get dh to wear his hat becaus he really doesn't want to be in the spotlight. We'll see though.

Alarose... we also got married on October 25th (what a great day!)...in 2003. And we are taking our honeymoon in August of '09. It's kind of like a 5th wedding anniversary/honeymoon - though it's closer to the 6th anniversary! Getting married in the middle of the school year (teachers) plus the teaching salary can be a bit of a downer when dreaming of a vacation! So, don't worry about taking the trip a bit later. Like us, many can't afford to go right after we get married. We won't be wearing the wedding ears or anything (DH would die if I asked him to) but be sure to enjoy your trip regardless of the CM's reactions.

Congratulations! Happy Honeymoon!

I loved wearing the ears and the pins when we were out and about in the parks. My DH did get a bit bored of everyone saying congratulations all the time but we did get some great spots on the rides because of them.

We also got attention at our meal times which sometimes we found nice, a free dessert etc, but because we are quite quiet people if they made us stand up so everyone could say congratulations to us it got a bit much for us.

By the end of our two week holiday my DH gave on on wearing his pin so I looked like I had got married to myself :rotfl2:
