I know that you are supposed to go early in the day, but we have an opportunity to go something like 2:00 in the afternoon. I believe the park is open to 11 or 12 so there would be lots of time. How bad are the lines, and are their any strategies that may help make this more bearable. Also, what is the line difference between the parks if any.

Thanks

I did that this last time on the first day at DLR.
Try going after 2 pm on a Sunday, seems like the least crowded time.

Can't say much about lines except that by about 8 pm they really wind down. In my experience the lines at California Adventure are generally a little shorter (except for Soarin' which is almost always a long wait). I always do Disneyland in the morning, California Adventure in the afternoon/evening, and Disneyland again at night. Seems to work out well!
Park hopping is a must.
