Going in Sept? Share your plans!!

Ok so I had to modifiy my dining plans-just a one...we planned to take my son to Tusker House for his bday 9/5 and we've cenceled. Instead we booked him (and his sister) a Pirate Cruise at the GF for his bday, and we kept his dinner ressie at T-Rex for that evening.

I think this will be fun-and we get 2 hours to ourselves! :woohoo:

I looked at this, but I'm lso considering the Pirate's League. I'm waiting until it actually opens though and gets pictures and reviews about it.

Ok so here I go again (get a snack because it's long), with some changing days around and what not, here are the final plans (assuming I can get ADR times similar to what I want)

All times are what I am hoping for, I can't make ADRs until June 20th and we'll be upgrading to AP so we'll have many days in WDW.

Some more prologue:
We're staying at Pop Century Sept 18-Oct 2 on free dining.
I have a surprise 3 night stay for me and my mom at WL from September 22-25 (she'd never spend the money on a deluxe so I will for her) we will have free dining here also but I have upgraded it to the DxDP.
We're staying the night of the Expedition Everest Challenge (Sept 26) at AKL for quick and easy transportation and we got a good rate for the night.

lacrosse_lady - you have reservations after the Food and Wine Festival? We're expecting to snack around the booths and not have dinner. Should I plan a meal in addition to the snacking? We'll be there on Friday with you. :)

What is the Expedition Everest Challenge?

What is the Expedition Everest Challenge?

1. you have reservations after the Food and Wine Festival? We're expecting to snack around the booths and not have dinner. Should I plan a meal in addition to the snacking? We'll be there on Friday with you. :)

I have found that the food there is a little less filling than I had thought. So basically on those 2 days at the beginning of the F&W, snacking will become lunch for us. In no way though was it enough food for the entire day for me.

2. What is the Expedition Everest Challenge?

It's a 5K, obsticle course and scavenger hunt at Animal Kingdom. There's also an after party for the racers and their friends and family. http://disneyworldsports.disney.go.com/dwws/en_US/events/eventDetail/detail?name=ExpeditionEverestChallengeDetailPage&bhcp=1

I must admit I might be in over my head here. My parents took my sister and I twice when we were between 9 and 14, and now 17 years later it's my turn to take them for their 30th anniversary (and bringing my 5 year old neice for her first time) . We also have the Free Dining, but I wasn't aware there would be such planning for meals. I'm now assuming I should get to making reservations immediately to see where we can get in. But what are your strategies? I thought we would just wander the park and eat where we ended up but now I'm thinking that if we do that we run the risk of spending our valuable park time stuck waiting for a table at a restaurant (when doing sit down meals). Do you typically pick three places you'd like to eat and see which one you can get into? I'm completely lost when it comes to reservations!

Thanks for your help!

Thanks, lacrosse_lady! The 5k sounds really interesting!

I'm saving up our snacks for the week to use at the Food and Wine Festival, but I'll keep a counter service meal open for the day in case we're still hungry. Thanks for the heads up!

Jay2009 - I'm planning my first trip, but my understanding is that if you don't book your advance dining reservations, you can be SOL when it comes time to eat. Sometimes they'll be totally booked and not take walk ins. I don't want to waste time in the park wandering from place to place trying to find somewhere to eat, so I'm making a dining plan so I can work our days around that and be sure we're getting in. Plus, it sounds like there are a lot of good restaurants and a few that are not so great, so I'd rather skip the not so great by doing the research ahead.

SugarSpice, I have the same arrival/departure times as you do. :thumbsup2 We are coming from Indianapolis via Airtran. We arrive on the 5th but leave on the 12...I had to stay the extra day. :goodvibes

:yay:THAT IS THE SAME FLIGHT WE ARE TAKING!!!!!!:yay:
(If I actually buy the tickets that is!!) I have been obsessing over the price because this flight's prices have been bouncing around like a bouncy ball for the last month! They were the lowest I had seen this past Monday and I was all prepared to buy them on Tuesday and they had shot back up again. I am figuring they will drop back down again next Monday and I will buy them then. We'll be on the plane together! How fun!

So dilemma, maybe...

We are booked for our Sunrise Savannah Tour on Sept. 3(ugh and we are meeting at 6:30 am :scared1:), after it includes a breakfast buffet and that evening we are booked for the dinner buffet clam bake at Cape May...

Ya think thats too much food and I should change my dinner ressie?
:confused3

I have been watching them as well and am shocked at how much they are jumping! I hope you are able to get them for a good price. It would be fun to be on the same plane. :goodvibes

I bought our tickets back in March...before we had decided to even go! :rotfl: I got them for $68 each way so for the 3 of us it was under $500!! Yea!! Monday I went ahead and selected seats on each segment b/c I was afraid DD would have to sit by herself. :scared1:

Hello! Congrats on the first time trip! I have been there for the last few years and I thought I would share a few of our favorite places to eat. All the ones you mentioned are good! Don't know if you have boys or girls or ages. The Grand Floridian has a Cinderella Dinner with her, step mother, step sisters, Prince and it is a buffet. It is Parke Fare restaurant. It only costs you 1 meal plan! We did it last year and it was awesome!!! Also the Sci-Fi and 50's Prime time cafe are WONDERFUL too! they are both at Hollywood Studios. We have dine them several times and they are an experience all themselves! If you have a daughter you need to try the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique...costs about $50 but it is soooo worth doing at least once! There is a parade at night at Magic Kingdom called Spectromagic and you have GOT to see it. AWESOME. It is only on certain nights, so look for the dates! Fantasmic is an awesome show at Hollywood Studios too, also only on some nights and it is a must see. There is also a place at Epcot called Kringla Bakery in Norway....a must try for your snacks...school bread and sweet pretzels are wonderful! Funnel Cakes at a little place in magic Kingdom going into Adventureland...think it is maybe called Aunt Polly's? Wonderful too! Have you looked into tickets for Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween tickets? It is not cheap, but it is soooo worth it for the experience to trick or treat at Disney! You see things you wouldn't see any other time. Also be sure to ask when you check in for first visit pins and they will give them to you for free. Wear them all week and you get lots of attention! Have a wonderful trip!

http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/restaurants/
for a complete list
or

http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/dining/
to search for each one

When you look at a restaurant, for almost all of the TS ones you should see a button that says Book Reservation. If you click on that, if lets you put in a date or date range to book it, and also gives you a link to click if you have resort reservations, so you can link it to your stay and book for your whole trip (well, at least the +10 worth).

My ADR date isn't until next week, so I just logged in and marked all the locations I want as favorites, so I can just bring up that page and not have to search for all of them.

Definitely worth playing around with now to get a feel for the site prior to doing it =)
