First time to post after having read this board for several months in prep for next year. I love it :flower:

I am looking for anyone who has been to WDW the week after Mother's day. We leave on the 8th and will be staying thru the 15th. We can't wait!! :jumping1:

Taking DH and DD who will be 5. I've got the airline, now all I need is hotel. Plan on staying concierge at YC.

I am interested in what crowd levels you have experienced and any other pointers or experiences you may have had. Basically, what can we anticipate at that time of year? Thanks for all of the pointers. :earsgirl:

I'm sure at that time of the year it will be pretty busy, I would expect longs waits in line, and warm weather. :sunny:

We are planning on going just as you are leaving. We haven't booked yet but I am also curious about crowd conditions and weather. The books I've read said crowds in May were good and weather is hot, but I'd like to hear from someone who has actually been there. I am soooo excited, I haven't been there since my honeymoon in 2000! :cool1:

We're going may 5 to 15 2006. We did not book anything yet because they dont have the rates yet. I was told to call back in 2 month. I was hoping that it would not be a busy time.

I was there this year for Mother's Day weekend and I really didn't think it was bad at all. We barely waited on lines. I was also there last year around that time also. The crowd usually picks up on the weekends ...but it really isn't too bad. It does get hot :sunny: . But who cares :confused3 ....it's Florida it's supposed to be hot.

The only thing I can recommend is definately keep reading this board and also get yourself a book called The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World....that is my bible to Disney :worship: . Another tip...plan, plan, plan, plan....and just when you think you are done planning......plan some more.

And if your family thinks your crazy because you have a schedule/plan...let me until they realize that you can accomplish much more in the parks when you have a plan. :cheer2:

I bought the Unofficial Guide-it's awesome! My family already thinks I'm nuts, my DH calls me Disneynazi!

We've been during the first week of the last three Mays. This past May was the most crowded, but that was just because of the kick-off to the Happiest Celebration on the 5th, and it still was not crowded. Let's say the year before was a level 3, this year was maybe a 5. I would expect the crowd levels to return to normal next year. And the weather is always nice.

I obtained that book about 2 months ago and have already read it through-cover to cover- at least twice. I am already also making spreadsheets, time tables, and charts. I LOVE that book!!!!! I am even thinking of getting this years' copy when it comes out in Sept -- it's entertaining even if your not going.

Everything I read - and I have been reading everything I can get my hands on - indicates that the crowds should be low, which is a reason we picked that time. But I really wanted some first hand accounts -- thanks much for the reply!

My DH thinks I am a little nuts, but he is also a little OCD as well and appreciates the efforts.

I have been told that you can go ahead and book "room only" which is what I will prob do in next week, and then you can add to that until, I believe, about 45 days (or maybe 90?) before your trip (before you have to pay a pentaly for any changes).

Happy planning :goodvibes

We are planning a trip from April 29, 2006 to May 8, 2006. My H also thinks I'm crazy because I'm already starting to do some planning. But isn't that part of the fun????

I'm hoping the crowds won't be too crazy because everyone will have just left from being there over Spring Break??? :confused3 And maybe the May crowd won't have arrived yet???? :confused3

We stayed at the Beach Club this year for Mother's Day week and the weather was beautiful. Not quite as hot as other years, and it actually got a little cool at night. We went back Memorial Day weekend and it was crazy busy and much hotter. Plus, those thunderstorms started every day.

I think the week you are going is a great week. Anything after that and it starts getting REALLY hot and crowded.

Enjoy :cool1:

Shush. This thread needs to end now. That's our week. These people are lying to you. I retract my previous statement. It's miserably hot, rainy, and the crowds are horrible. pirate:

Oh yeah, um...Welcome to the DIS Disney Longhorn

Thanks for the info. Have you ever stayed at YC--we were debating between BC and YC. We started leaning towards YC in anticipation of getting a room w/view of illuminations--which would be perfect. Plus, we wanted a full balcony.

Any thoughts?

Thanks :teeth:

We were just there this past May. We were at the Poly. The 11th - the 15th then on to our Disney Wonder Cruise. It was perfect weather wise, sunny and 83-85 every day and even beautiful in the evening. We didn't find it be overly crowded at all. We did all the parks except for Animal Kingdom. There were times where it was a little more crowded then others. But overall it wasn't a big deal. Had a great time and wishing we were still there!!:flower:

IMO May is the best time of year to go. We also enjoy going in October.

Enjoy your trip:sunny:

Personally I like the Beach Club - more casual atmosphere and we usually request a pool view. There is no guarantee you will face the fireworks at the Yacht Club - we stayed there once and what they called a water view was really more of a courtyard view. Both the Yacht and Beach Club are really great - you won't have a bad time either way. It is only about a 5-10 minute walk to Epcot to see Illuminations - if you don't go in you can see alot of the higher fireworks from the bridge between the Beach Club and the Boardwalk.

There are so many dining options in this area (counting the Boardwalk). We love Spoodles and the Yachtsman Steak House. Then there is Beaches and Cream (very casual), Cape May Buffet (another favorite), The Flying Fish, the Big River Grille, ESPN and all the restaurants at the Swan and Dolphin.

The pool has to be experienced to be believed :cloud9: . You will have a great time no matter what room you get!!

I got the weeks mixed up! It was hot and rainy in May and cool and beautiful in June! :rotfl: :rotfl:

We go every May (except this year :sad1: ). And they weather has been nice, and crowd levels low. The only time it got crowded, is towards the end of the month for Memorial Day.
