My extended family is going to WDW june 19-24...we will be arriving mid-afternoon in the 19th so that night we are planning on going to Downtown Disney for dinner.

The cast is me35, DH36, DD12, DS8, Dsis37, DBIL36, DNiece 11, DNephew2, DMom 60, DDad70.

Here is what I know so far,

Monday , my H and kids and my SIl and kids are going to Blizzard Beach. My BIL and I are going to eat our way around Epcot(have always wanted to do this). And my H and kids don't like Epcot.

Tuesday-Magic Kingdom w/ Illuminations Cruise (assuming I can get on)

Wed-MGM with Fantasmic dinner package

Thursday-Animal Kingdom

We are not going to be doing everything together becasue of the differnce in the kids ages(the 2-year old) but we are planning on eating dinner together. Also, one Character Breakfast(probably Chef Mickeys).

Also, my family is not planning on getting the Park Hopper Option on our tickets. Do you think that is wise? That is why I am trying to plabn dinners at the same parks. My kids and us will have no trouble going from Sunup-Sundown at the parks.

My big concern is Thursday and spending all day at Animal Kingdom? Is ther enough there for all day.

Also, ther is a slim possibility that we may have to leave Thuursday night and drive straight through home to PA. Are we nuts?

Thanks for any insight here.....

Can't answer about the driving, always fly, but there is enough to do all day at AK . What we did was have the AK day be one of our "sleeping in" days, since I had them up real early in the morning for the other parks.

Isn't the Illuminations cruise at Epcot? If so, and you're not getting hoppers, how will you get into Epcot if you're at MK all day? Just curious.

I think the Illuminations Cruises leave from The Yacht Club Marina????

How are the crowds at AK if you arrive there later??

Sorry about the cruise comment, just looked it up, you're right it does. Never did it before.

We didn't really have any crowds at AK, but we were there 2nd week of Jan, so parks aren't that busy then. I know there's listings of which are the least crowded days for each park for specific times. The Unofficial Guide has them, don't think they're accurate anymore with the new EMH hours. Try a search on this board.

Since AK is smaller I didn't feel the need to get there really early like at the other parks, plus if you plan AK on a EMH evening you'll have even more time, so getting there early isn't such a big deal.

I'm such a park commando when we go, I try to give the family at least one or two days to sleep in a little later.

I agree with you on the Park Commando thing. We are up early and stay until they throw us out. I figure I am only there once every couple of years and only for a week so why not?? I can rest when I get home!!

Thanks for your insights......

Any other comments on the itinerary??

Even in June the AK can be very warm and humid. Of all the parks this would be my last choice on a day I might have to drive. The heat and humidity can really zap you and without a place to rest, nap, and recover it could turn a long drive into an unbearable one.
